The manufacturing of composites from biomaterials enables the production of environmentand user-friendly biodegradable products. The matrix of such composite materials is made of biopolymers such as PLA or PGA, while the reinforcement is usually made of natural fibers. Such composites have unique physical and mechanical properties as well as distinctive, eye-catching performance and aesthetic characteristics such as texture, color or roughness. This paper presents the results of colorimetric examination of polymer-linen biocomposite materials under abiotic degradation. The colorimetric examination was made based on a CIELAB model determining the values of lightness, color saturation, chromatic colors and total color difference. The SEM morphology of the specimen surface fracture was also examined. The obtained results show a significant effect of abiotic degradation on the tested parameters.

This paper presents a study of PVC-ceramic composites obtained by twin-screw extrusion. Properties such as colour, wettability, tensile strength, elongation at break and impact tensile strength were studied. Moreover, the composite samples were subjected to UV degradation process and the influence of the composite composition therefore the degradation process on the mentioned properties has been determined. The study showed the dependence of the ceramic content in the material and its granulation on the individual properties. The research showed a significant influence of degradation on the colour and wettability of samples containing ceramic filler with granulation 0.25-0.5 mm, and in the case of tests of mechanical properties, this influence is the greatest for samples with filler with grain size 0.5-1.25 mm. Additionally, the aging process significantly influenced obtained results.

The effect of nanocellulose (3 or 5 wt%) on the PLA properties was investigated. Moreover, the possibility of using such composites as an expansion joint material was considered. Nanocellulose was obtained from wastepaper by mechano-chemical treatment. The structure, impact strength, tensile strength of the composites and the adhesion to the cement were studied. It was observed that with the increasing nanocellulose content, the impact strength and tensile strength decreased because of weak interactions at the interface and formation of agglomerates.

W pracy zbadano wpływ nanocelulozy (3 oraz 5% mas.) na właściwości PLA. Dodatkowo rozważono możliwość zastosowania tego typu kompozytów jako materiału dylatacyjnego. Nanocelulozę otrzymano z makulatury poprzez obróbkę mechano-chemiczną. Zbadano strukturę, udarność i wytrzymałość kompozytów na rozciąganie oraz adhezję do cementu. Zaobserwowano, że wraz ze wzrostem zawartości nanocelulozy udarność i wytrzymałość na rozciąganie zmniejszały się jako efekt słabych oddziaływań na granicy faz i tworzenia się aglomeratów.
