The primary objective of the study was the problem of bacteriological quality control of water in storage tanks. Consideration was given to the sanitary condition of the stored water (e.g., too long storage time, origin and the effect of dead zones in the tanks, usage of proper construction materials, ambient air, etc.). On the example of some designs offerred by Huber Technology (Germany), the construction of the inflow and outflow in the storage tanks was analyzed with the aim to provide the desired water flow within the tank and to minimize the occurrence of dead zones. Emphasized was the necessity of using high-grade steel (or similar high-quality materials) for the construction of fittings as well as of some parts of the storage tanks. The study also substantiated the need of installing an air filter in order to prevent penetration of airborne pollutants a the treated water collected in the storage tanks.
