The article analyses the key problems facing the textile and clothing industry, including social and economic aspects of its functioning, and puts forward steps that could be taken to bring the industry closer to sustainable development. The issues discussed include outsourcing of the clothing and textiles production, salaries that can be 50% below a living wage, and fast fashion, which endangers the sustainable development approach to the production and consumption of textile products. The paper provides examples of initiatives aimed at achieving balance in areas including multilateral agreements, independent initiatives among clothing companies to improve pay conditions, respect for employee rights and ensuring safe working conditions, and also the popularisation of slow fashion movement, a response to the dominant phenomenon of consumerism.

The aim of the study was to assess the effect of cold water immersion on changes in blood lactate concentration during post-exercise recovery in swimmers subjected to2-minute exercise test (front crawl swimming movements) using a VASA Swim Ergometer, with the maximum arm speed movements, as during the freestyle technique. The study covered 11 professional swimmers of the MKP Szczecin club, tested twice with a two-week interval. Each participant performed an exercise test twice, once with a passive recovery period, and the second time with cold water immersion after exercise, as a method potentially supporting the post-exercise recovery process. Each time before the test, immediately after and at 3, 6 and 9 minutes after exercise, the concentration of lactate in the capillary blood was measured. Statistical analysis of the obtained results showed that cold water immersion applied immediately after exercise resulted in a faster reduction of lactate concentration. The conducted research confirms that cold water immersion used in post-exercise recovery may be an effective method of restoring optimal physical fitness as part of the training process.

Due to the multifaceted nature of the revitalisation process, its evaluation and monitoring, as well as possible comparisons, are complex and difficult to carry out. Evaluation of the revitalisation process currently poses a challenge for all municipalities. The article aims to compare the revitalisation process in the two Polish cities of Toruń and Bydgoszcz. The analysis was based on two financial perspectives: 2007–2015 and 2016–2023. The authors chose a multi-criteria analysis method based on the analytical hierarchical process (AHP) as the main research method. The results show that the Local Revitalisation Programme of the City of Toruń for the years 2007–2015 had the best impact on the revitalisation process. Using the AHP method, we could carry out a multidimensional evaluation of the revitalisation process. Moreover, it allowed us to combine different elements of the evaluation of the revitalisation process and transform them into one synthetic result, ranking each programme in a hierarchy. At the methodological level, the article presents a new approach to conduct research in socio-economic geography, using the tool of multi-criteria analysis derived from the disciplines of economics and management sciences. Until now, the AHP method has not been used in the analysis of the revitalisation process, which confirms the innovative character of the conducted research.

The idea of worm tracking refers to the path analysis of Caenorhabditis elegans nematodes and is an important tool in neurobiology which helps to describe their behavior. Knowledge about nematode behavior can be applied as a model to study the physiological addiction process or other nervous system processes in animals and humans. Tracking is performed by using a special manipulator positioning a microscope with a camera over a dish with an observed individual. In the paper, the accuracy of a nematode's trajectory reconstruction is investigated. Special attention is paid to analyzing errors that occurred during the microscope displacements. Two sources of errors in the trajectory reconstruction are shown. One is due to the difficulty in accurately measuring the microscope shift, the other is due to a nematode displacement during the microscope movement. A new method that increases path reconstruction accuracy based only on the registered sequence of images is proposed. The method Simultaneously Localizes And Tracks (SLAT) the nematodes, and is robust to the positioning system displacement errors. The proposed method predicts the nematode position by using NonParametric Regression (NPR). In addition, two other methods of the SLAT problem are implemented to evaluate the NPR method. The first consists in ignoring the nematode displacement during microscope movement, and the second is based on a Kalman filter. The results suggest that the SLAT method based on nonparametric regression gives the most promising results and decreases the error of trajectory reconstruction by 25% compared with reconstruction based on data from the positioning system.
