The study is an attempt to define the role of the Mercosur in Polish foreign agri-food trade and to examine the competitive position of agri-food products made in Poland on the markets of members of Mercosur in the years 2004-2009. A deliberately selected set of ex post indicators of competitive position were used in the paper. The analysis showed that the Mercosur countries are an important partner of the Polish, especially as a source of supply of agri-food products. The highest level of competitive advantages on the markets of Mercosur region, and also the highest scale of export specialization was observed in the group of animal origin products. On the other hand among the plant origin products the least competitive was sugar and honey.
