The nature as a book is one of the most important motifs and interpretative tropus, which lets us describe the way of conceptualization in the Anna Kamieńska’s poetry. In her artistic work, the poetress has gone through rationalism – connected with communistic social-political doctrine – to the immanent metaphysic – represented by the belief of that there is a never-ending process of matter transforming in the Cosmos. The focal of her artistic search was the transcendental metaphysic – strongly and lightly connected with the Bible and Christian religion. In the last phase, Kamieňska’s work brought her even closer to mysticism. This hypothesis is strengthened by her commentaries in the Diary and theory of poetry formulated in essays. A wide analysis of her short piece Dawny list (Old letter), presented in the article, shows the very profound symbolic coherence and formal exactness (minimalism, open structure and purposefulness of each element) of her text, what in total reinforces the conclusion about the mystical character of her poetry.
