Fridrich Gorensztejn’s story Malen’kij fruktovyj sadik takes up the problem key in the author’s literary works, of shaping up the self-consciousness of a Russian Jew in the USSR. The main character, who’s also the narrator, depicts the surrounding Soviet reality during Brezhnev’s reign, with a particular emphasis on the environment of intelligent Jews in the context of deciding upon repatriation to Israel, which meant crossing the borders between the character’s mother country and the new to him, but historically his motherland. The subject of the second part of the study is the Russian and Soviet cultural context, which implied Gorensztejn’s writing of Malen’kij fruktovyj sadik and its artistic shape. The references to Anton Chekhov’s body of work allow the metaphorical readings of the story. However the creation of stereotype-driven cultural lines in the Soviet society during the ‘perestroika’ by the Russian and Jewish intellectual elites enables to form the thesis that the interpreted story is implied by those events and is an expression of the author’s utopian belief in the ability of creative coexistence of Jewish minority in the Russian social and cultural space.

The research material for the article comprises artistic output of two renowned artists of the Leningrad underground, namely a painter and poet Gennady Ustyugov and a photographer and abstractionist painter Valentine Samarin. Ustyugov’s deeply philosophical painting, which to a certain extent fits into the experience of the Russian symbolism and Old Russian icons and frescos, enables us to conclude that the eyesight of the artist enables him to reach transcendental space. It is where he saw and presented in his paintings an ideal of a lady, girl, maiden, who under the flexible, fluid line of the artist evolved and revealed itself as an angel or a wanderer pilgrim. In Ustyugov’s lyric miniatures, the lonely, alienated, and full of yearning self continuously searches for the beloved lady. Although the sight of the lyric self found the ideal several times, it was not given a chance to enjoy a closer encounter and share his life with her. While registering the reality surrounding him, his eyes concentrate on the beauty of God’s world of nature, but it is a view of a child who recognises what is minute, small, insignificant and unnoticeable. An artist abstractionist Valentine Samarin armed his sight with a photographic camera and focused on people and objects from the world of art. In his unique photographs SANKI, he in-tuitively or fully intentionally matured in the process of watching and in the process of creation preserved those meta-dimensions, internal energy of transcendental being invisible for an eye, and particular importance about which he was deeply convinced.

EMIGRANTOLOGIA. WKŁAD NAUKOWO-BADAWCZY RUSYCYSTYKI POLSKIEJ Na materiale literacko-kulturowej spuścizny trzech kolejnych fal emigracji rosyjskiej XX stulecia rozpatrzono w artykule dwie funkcje, jakie zdaniem autorki, pełni pojęcie „emigrantologia”, wprowadzony przez Lucjana Suchanka do przestrzeni badawczej wychodźstwa słowiańskiego. Systematyzuje ono obszar intelektualno-naukowej samorefleksji (w tym literaturoznawczej, historiograficznej, filozoficzno-teologicznej, kulturoznawczej), jaka wypracowana została w środowisku emigracji rosyjskiej. Ponadto modeluje potrzebę prowadzenia interdyscyplinarnych, a w nieodległej przyszłości transdyscyplinarnych, studiów nad złożonym fenomenem kulturowym emigracji słowiańskich. W tym kontekście zaprezentowano także ważniejsze kierunki i osiągnięcia badawcze rusycystyki polskiej. EMIGRANTOLOGY. CONTRIBUTION OF RUSSIAN STUDIES IN POLAND TO SCIENCE AND RESEARCH Based on the literary and cultural material, the article discusses two functions played by the term of emigrantology as a legacy of three waves of Russian emigration in the 20th c. The term was introduced by Lucjan Suchanek to the research space of Slavic emigration. It has systematized the area of intellectual and scientific self-reflection (including literary studies, historiography, philosophy and theology, and cultural studies), which developed in the community of Russian emigration. Additionally, the term provides modelling of the need for interdisciplinary and in the nearest future trans-disciplinary studies on the complex cultural phenomenon of Slavic emigrations. In this particular context, the article presents major research directions and achievements of Russian studies in Poland.
