This article deals with issues related to the optimization of traffic management in modern cities, the so-called Smart City. In particular, the article presents the process of evolution of the traffic flow prediction model at a selected crossroads in a selected city in Poland - the city of Rzeszów. Rzeszow is an example of a smart city equipped with an extensive system of real-time data collection and processing from multiple road points in the city. The research was aimed at a detailed analysis of the feasibility and degree of fit of different variants of the regression model: linear, polynomial, trigonometric, polynomial-trigonometric, and regression-based Random Forest algorithm. Several studies were carried out evaluating different generations of models, in particular, an analysis was carried out based on which the superiority of the trigonometric model was demonstrated. This model had the best fit and the lowest error rate, which could be a good conclusion for widespread use and implementation in Smart City supervisory systems.

In 2016, during excavations on a military site, part 1-24, in Las Puławski, a number of remains connected with the 20th century warfare were found. The field fortifications included front-line trenches, communication trenches and shelters. The analysis of their size and function and the artefacts found in the fills indicate that only one of the fortifications may be connected with World War I. The rest of the trenches were built by the 1st Polish Army, which operated in the area in July and August 1944, during an unsuccessful attempt to cross the Vistula River between Puławy and Dęblin.

In the paper an example of an integrated Software-Defined Network (SDN) system with heterogeneous technological instances based on the Linux platform will be shown. For this purpose, two research testing stands with a POX controller and OVS (Open vSwitch) switches were used. In the first testing stand, the research based on the ICMP traffic was done while in the second one, MQTT traffic was analysed. The capabilities of these systems were examined in terms of responding to detected incidents and traffic anomalies. In particular, their appropriate responses to anomalies were tested, as well as the possibility of continuous monitoring of packet transfer between separate network components. The aim of the paper is to investigate the effectiveness of SDN in enhancing the security and adaptability of critical infrastructure systems. For isolation and optimised resource management, some components, such as POX or the MQTT broker, were run in Docker containers. The test environment used both hardware cases and prepared software, enabling comprehensive design and testing of networks based on the OpenFlow protocol used in SDN architecture, enabling the separation of control from traffic in computer networks. The results of this research make it possible to implement anomaly detection solutions in critical infrastructure systems that will adapt on the fly to changing conditions that arise, for example, in the case of an attack on such infrastructure or physical damage to it at a selected node.
