The paper concerns the problem of the application of the Discrete Wavelet Transform and the Lipschitz exponent to an estimation of function differentiability. The influence of number of discrete data (measurements points) and a class of function on the discontinuity indicator is analyzed. The problem is discussed on the example of functions which represent a structural response of a mechanical static system.

In the present paper mechanically loaded 1-D structures and thermally loaded 2-D structures are considered. In case of 1-D members, response signals in the form of displacements are processed, whereas in 2-D structures temperature fields are used. Employing the discrete wavelet transform of the response signals the damage zones are discovered and localized. In case of 1-D structures the Lipschitz exponent was estimated using the local maxima of the wavelet transform modulus as an intensity factor, which served to assess the magnitude of damage.

The paper presents a numerical model, which allows one to determine the wrinkling stress in sandwich panels. The wrinkling of the compressed face of sandwich panel can be caused by a bending moment or axial force. The developed model enables one to take into account various boundary conditions and micro-profiling of sandwich faces. Damage initiation and propagation in the interface between the face and the sandwich core is defined, too. The numerical procedures and parameters of the FE model are discussed. The obtained solutions are related to the results of actual experiments.

XX w. obiektu. Autorzy przedstawiają zakres niezbędnych napraw i wzmocnień pozwalających na zabezpieczenie zachowanych fragmentów dworu przed ich dalszym niszczeniem.

The article describes both the current technical condition and the strengthening method of the preserved fragments of the manor house located in Wlostow village. The local vision showed that the current technical condition of the ruins of the manor house was unacceptable and could result in a construction catastrophe. The poor technical condition of the ruins was a consequence of the lack of maintenance since the 1960s. The authors have shown the range of the necessary maintenance work, which allows for the protection of the ruins from further destruction.

A non-destructive method of damage detection based on heat transfer experiments and 2-D Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) is discussed. In this paper real experiments with the use of thermography measurement techniques are substituted by numerically simulated experiments. The plates were modeled as 2-D and 3-D structures. Two kinds of structures are considered: homogeneous in undamaged state and non-homogenous. Measurement errors are accounted for by introduction of a white noise. The efficiency of the method is demonstrated by the way of numerous examples. Keywords: damage detection, wavelet transformation, infrared thermography

The paper demonstrates the potential of Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) in damage detection. Efficiency of the method is demonstrated by the way of examples. In this study the numerically simulated static and dynamic experiments were used. One dimensional DWT was used to signal processing. Measurement errors were accounted for by introduction of white noise.
