The pursuit of energy self-sufficiency is understandable, as there can exist many reasons standing behind such pursuit. When considering commune level, many factors can influence the possibility of achieving energy self-sufficiency, but one thing is certain – this idea can be achieved by utilizing local renewable sources of energy, saving energy, and using it more efficiently. Such approach allows dealing with both climate change and energy crisis and can be beneficial for the local population, environment, and economy. The main aim of the work is to answer the question whether it is possible to achieve energy self-sufficiency on the communal level in north-eastern Poland. Five communes were analysed in terms of achieving both electric and heat self-sufficiency. We also checked whether there is an impact of selected municipal parameters on the value of energy potential of local energy sources. The results of our study indicate that achieving self-sufficiency is easier in terms of electricity (in 2 out of 5 communes the potential is more than twice as high as the demand) than in terms of heat (in 4 out of 5 communes the potential is more than twice lower than the demand, only in one the potential is close to the demand). It should be emphasized, that differences in the results obtained for different communes indicate that local factors have great influence on energy potential of individual communes.

The analysis of advisability and profitability of using an air to water heat pump for the purpose of waste heat recovery from servers being used as cryptocurrency mining rigs, was performed. To carry out such an analysis, the cooling unit of the computing server was connected to the heat pump, and the entire system was adequately equipped with devices measuring parameters of the process. Performed experiments proves that the heat pump coefficient of performance (COP) reaches satisfactory values (i.e., an average of 4.21), what is the result of stable and high-temperature source of heat at the pump inlet (i.e., in the range of 29.9-34.1). Economic analysis shows a significant reduction in the cost of heating domestic hot water (by nearly 59-61%). The main conclusion which can be drawn from the paper, is that in a case of having a waste heat source in a form of a server or similar, it is advisable to consider the purchase of air-to-water heat pump for the purpose of domestic hot water heating.

The first part of the article contains a basic description of the mushroom production process. The analysis of this process allows to propose algorithms for monitoring the growing conditions and controlling the cultivation process - in the latter case with possible human operator intervention. These algorithms, along with their description, are included in the second part of the article - they can be used in the design and implementation of intelligent mushroom farm management systems.

Analiza tego procesu pozwoliła na zaproponowanie algorytmów służących do monitorowania warunków uprawy oraz sterowania procesem uprawy - w tym drugim przypadku z możliwą ingerencją operatora. Algorytmy te, wraz z opisem, zawarte są w drugiej części artykułu - mogą one być wykorzystane przy projektowaniu i implementacji inteligentnych systemów zarządzania pieczarkarnią.
