The macrovegetation of a large shallow lake (Lake Zbąszyńskie, Lubuskie Lakeland) was characterized against the background of its physico-chemical properties. The question of interest was whether the phytocoenotic composition and structure of macrophyte vegetation reflect abiotic and trophic conditions of the studied lake. The results are discussed in the context of the theory of alternative stable states in shallow lakes.
A new locality of Hippuris vulgaris L. fo. terrestre Glück forming phytocoenose of Hippuridetum vulgaris Pass. 1955 in the Lake Zbąszyńskie (Pojezierze Lubuskie lakeland) has been found in vegetation season of the year 2000. Presence of phytocoenoses built by Hippuris vulgaris fo. terrestre in the Wielkopolska region has not been published, however very few observations of it are known from unpublished data. The locality presented has been found in only one site in a large but shallow eutrophic lake of strong anthropopressure.
