The article concerns the dramaturgical work on the project Środula. Landscape of Maus produced at the Teatr Zagłębia in Sosnowiec. Starting from the graphic novel Maus by Art Spiegelman, the author reconstructs each stage of the artistic investigation into the history of the Środula ghetto. At the intersection of personal stories, documents, archival materials, and conversations with experts, a polyphonic narrative about the non-place of memory is created. Using tools from the area of the environmental history of the Holocaust, the author places the landscape of the district, a post-violence place, incomprehensible to current residents at the centre of attention. The article problematizes both research work in the field and artistic gestures made in the materials collected, in the script and in the performance. The author places the work on the project in the broader context of the research on the history of the Zagłębie ghettos in Sosnowiec and Będzin and contemporary discourses on the cultures of memory.
