The purpose of this article is to show how the derivation of genetically German Polish names derived from the name Nikolaus. These names were taken from the Dictionary of Names Used in Poland at the Beginning of the XXI century, edited by K. Rymut (Słownik nazwisk używanych w Polsce na początku XXI wieku). The author draws attention to the ways in which they were Polonized and shows the phonetic and morphological processes that led to the existence of the name on the basis of the German language. In addition, the introduction of the article presents the etymology of the name of Nikolaus and indicates on the forms occurring in the Dictionary of Old Polish Personal Names (Słownik staropolskich nazw osobowych).
