The present study analyzes the natural vibration of non homogeneous visco elastic skew plate (parallelogram plate) with non uniform thickness under temperature field. Here non homogeneity in the plate's material arises due to circular variation in Poisson's ratio. Also the circular variation in thickness causes non uniformity in the shape of the plate. Bi linear temperature variation on the plate along both the axes is being viewed. The equation of motion related to frequency modes are solved by Rayleigh Ritz method. The findings of the present analysis are presented with the help of tables.

Enantiomeric resolution of two commonly used β-blockers, namely, (±)-propranolol and (±)-atenolol, has been achieved on silica gel layers which were bulkimpregnated with β-cyclodextrin. Solvent systems DMF-ethyl acetate-butanol (3:2:5, υ/υ) and butanol-acetic acid-ethyl acetate-ammonia (5:2:2:0.5, υ/υ) successfully resolved the enantiomers of (±)-propranolol and (±)-atenolol, respectively. The spots were located with iodine vapor. The effects of concentration of the chiral selector and mobile phase variation were also studied.

Today internet has emerged as a huge marketplace of products and services for meeting needs of more than a million customers worldwide. It provides users a platform to access information globally in electronic form as well as in terms of business transaction, such as,e-payments, e-orders and e-booking etc. The advent of the internet has led to the establishment of electronic commerce. Today a large number of B2C e-commerce websites are available, which makes it difficult not only for the customers to find right product at right price, but also for a company to choose a better site for selling its product. Thus, there is need to rank e-commerce websites in B2C electronic commerce. The objective of this paper is to rank e-commerce websites on the basis of success factors, namely, System Quality, Content Quality, Usages, Trust, Customer Support, Online Customer Feedback and Personalization. Here we have used a two stage approach combining maximum entropy-ordered weighted averaging aggregation (ME-OWA) with fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) for choosing the best B2C e-commerce website.

We present here a brief survey of some recent results on Walsh equiconvergence and its extension to equisummability by R. Brück. We also show how the results of Brück on equisummability can be further extended for a general class of linear operators on functions in A_R. A simple case of (0,2) interpolation is given as an example.

In the present scenario internet usage and the online banking sectors are experiencing spectacular growth. The Internet is the fastest growing banking channel today, both in the fields of corporate and retail banking. Banks prefer their customers to use the online banking facility as it reduces their cost, primarily through labour costs. The online banking system addresses several emerging trends: customers’ demand for anytime, anywhere service, product time-to-market imperatives and increasingly complex back-office integration challenges. Online fraud has become major source of revenue for criminals all over the globe. The challenges that oppose online banking are the concerns of security and privacy of information. This has made detecting and preventing these activities a top priority for every major bank. The use of single-factor authentication, such as a user name and the password, has been inadequate for guarding against account fraud and identity theft, in sensitive online banking systems. In this paper we are going to analyze the QKD multifactor authentication in online banking systems.

Spaces of entire functions ƒ represented by vector valued Dirichlet series and having finite order and finite type are considered. These are endowed with a certain topology under which they become a Frechet space. On this space the form of linear continuous functionals is characterized. Proper bases are also characterized in terms of growth parameters.

The present paper discusses the dispersion equation for SH waves in a non-homogeneous monoclinic layer over a semi infinite isotropic medium. The wave velocity equation has been obtained. In the isotropic case, when non-homogeneity is absent, the dispersion equation reduces to the standard SH wave equation. The dispersion curves are depicted by means of graphs for different values of non-homogeneity parameters for the layer and semi-infinite medium.

In this paper, the authors have implemented preprocessing algorithms for online handwritten Gurmukhi strokes in order to find the improvements in recognition of four high-level features (loop, headline, straight line and dot) of Gurmukhi strokes. Preprocessing algorithms include size normalization and centering, interpolating missing points, smoothing, slant correction and resampling of points. Recognition algorithms for the above mentioned four high-level features are also introduced in this paper. Experiments have been conducted across 60 writers and 5%, 3.33%, 6.66% and 8.34% improvements have been observed for recognition of loop, headline, straight line and dot features, respectively, after using preprocessing algorithms.

The objective of this investigation is to study the influence of thermal radiation and radiation absorption parameter on a mixed convection flow over a continuously moving porous vertical plate under the action of transverse applied magnetic field taking into account the induced magnetic field with convective boundary. Under certain assumptions, the solutions for the velocity field, temperature distribution and induced magnetic field are obtained. The influences of various parameters on the velocity, temperature fields and on induced magnetic fields are studied graphically. It is also found that the dimensionless Prandtl number, Grashof number, Schmidt number and magnetic parameter have an appreciable influence on the independent variables.

The focus of the present numerical work is to study the effect of fan air flow direction and mounting arrangement on the thermal performance of the radiators of power transformers using Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis. The study is carried out for four radiators of 3 m height and 30 fins with 0.52 m width and two fans of 1 m diameter in vertical and horizontal air flow directions. The horizontal flows from the two fans are considered in the same and the opposite direction, with the fans located on the same and the opposite side, respectively running at the same speed of 860 rpm for all configurations. Thermal radiation is modelled using the discrete transfer radiation model. A comparison of different flow and heat transfer patterns as well as heat dissipation - for the four different configurations - is presented. Velocity and temperature contours are used to visualize the heat and fluid flow distribution over the radiators. Fans placed on one side of the radiators result in larger heat dissipation than the other arrangements studied. The reasons for the improvement in heat dissipation are presented.

The present paper deals with the mathematical modeling of the propagation of torsional surface waves in a non-homogeneous transverse isotropic elastic half-space under a rigid layer. Both rigidities and density of the half-space are assumed to vary inversely linearly with depth. Separation of variable method has been used to get the analytical solutions for the dispersion equation of the torsional surface waves. Also, the effects of nonhomogeneities on the phase velocity of torsional surface waves have been shown graphically. Also, dispersion equations have been derived for some particular cases, which are in complete agreement with some classical results.

Maritime subsea operations have increased significantly in size and complexity during the last decades as a result of the advances in the offshore oil industry. Despite the fact that subsea operations can involve hundreds of personnel, working together with complex technology, limited research can be found regarding the operations in the available literature. This study aims to analyze a routine subsea operation using the Distributed Situation Awareness (DSA) framework and understand how the operators on board maintain their DSA in routine operations through a case study. In order to understand how the operation unfold in complex sociotechnical systems and how situational awareness (SA) is distributed across agents and artefacts, the theoretical framework of DSA can be useful as the focus is on the interactions at a systemic level. To achieve the research objectives, a combination of qualitative methods was utilized to illustrate DSA on board a subsea vessel. Initially an observation was conducted during a live subsea survey operation to capture the interaction between personnel and instruments. Furthermore, all observed personnel were subjected to retrospective interviews to elicit further knowledge of the operation. Finally, the data was analyzed according to the propositional network approach and Hierarchical Task Analysis (HTA). The result of this study portrays the SA of a subsea survey operation as propositional networks for the main phases identified in the HTA. The main findings of the study show a significantly difference in DSA among the Bridge personnel and personnel located in the Online Control Room (ONCR). Furthermore, it was found that the dynamic of the system allowed personnel to have different level of DSA without jeopardizing the overall operation. Finally, the summary of the findings provides a basic understanding of how a routine subsea survey operation unfolds.

Induction of nitrate reductase (NR) activity in coralloid roots of Cycas revoluta was observed after 8 h incubation in 0.02 M KNO3. Other plants growing near Cycas showed a higher level of NR immediately when incubated in KNO3. In contrast to NR, intact coralloid roots showed very high nitrogenase activity (~1.2 to 1.6 µmol C2H4 g fresh wt-1 h-1) under both light and dark conditions as compared to transverse sections of roots. Localization of NR and nitrogenase was tested in coralloid roots using different sets of roots and also in the endophyte. Our results showed that NR activity was mainly due to the endophyte (Anabaena cycadeae); coralloid roots lacked it, as no NR activity was observed in chloramphenicol-treated intact root samples.

This paper presents a hidden Markov model-based online handwritten character recognition for Gurmukhi script. We discuss a procedure to develop a hidden Markov model database in order to recognize Gurmukhi characters. A test with 60 handwritten samples, where each sample includes 41 Gurmukhi characters, shows a 91.95% recognition rate, and an average recognition speed of 0.112 seconds per stroke. The hidden Markov model database has been developed in XML using 5330 Gurmukhi characters. This work shall be useful to implement a hidden Markov model in online handwriting recognition and its software development.
