Mineral seaing are common use facilities for protection of waste landfills and contaminated sites. Some times the sealing have contact with petroleum products, which may influence the hydraulic conductivity and may result in partial or complete reduction of the efficiency of sealing system. This paper presents the results of a laboratory testing program carried out to determine the influence of petroleum contaminants on hydraulic conductivity of the clay slurry capping system (CS2 ) and on swelling potential of GCL. Results of test show that contamination of soil with petroleum products has a significant effect on both CS2 system and GCL.
