Solar irradiation is characterized by a significant variability on a time scale. Thereby the source of electric energy based on photovoltaic effects becomes unstable. As a result there may appear periods when amount of energy generated from PV is insufficient to cover energy needs of scheduled activities. In a case of time series with a relatively high value of a coefficient of variation (CV) which fluctuations cannot be explained by known in advance exogenous variables one may apply artificial neural networks. In this paper values of hourly solar irradiation have been forecasted for five and fifteen minutes ahead based on solar irradiation level from former periods and located nearby hypothetical measuring stations. The obtained results are promising.

Heavy metal (Cd, Pb, Zn and Cu) accumulaton in organs of snail (Helix pomatia) living in wood eeosystems surrounding the nuclear power station at Bohunice, SK and coal power station Łęg in Krakow, PL bas been studied. We detected higher levels of the investigated metals in organs of snails living near the eoal plant. With only one exception; the content of zine were higher in foot and shell of snails from Krakow than in foot and shell snails from Bohunice, but the level of this metal was higher in the liver gland of snails living near nuclear plant. The highest content of lead was detected in liver gland of snails from Krakow (67.67 +- 22.25 ug/g d.m) the lowest in the foot of snails from Bohnice (16.93 +- 5.26 ug/g d.m). The highest cadmium level were detected in foot of snails living near coal plant (20.97 +- 4.52 ug/g d.m), and the lowest in the shell ofsnails from Bohunice; 3.45 +- 1.70 ug/g d.m. The highest level of copper was detected in the liver of snails from Krakow (132.02 +- 81.79 ug/g d.m), and the lowest in shell of snails from Bohunice (3.22 +- 1.68 ug/g d.m).

Badano stopień kumulacji kadmu, ołowiu, cynku i miedzi w muszli, stopie i gruczole wątrobowym ślimaka winniczka (Helix pomatia) pochodzącego z dwóch różnych środowisk: z rejonu elektrowni atomowej Bohunice (Słowacja) oraz z elektrociepłowni węglowej "Łęg" w Krakowie. Stwierdzono większą zawartość zarówno ksenobiotyków, jak i pierwiastków biogennych w narządach ślimaków odłowionych w rejonie elektrowni węglowej. Wyjątkiem była zawartość cynku w gruczole wątrobowym; większa u ślimaków z rejonu Bohunic niż z Łęgu. Największą zawartość ołowiu stwierdzono w gruczole wątrobowym ślimaków z Krakowa (67,67 +- 22,25 ug/g s.m), zaś najmniejszą w stopie ślimaków z Bohunic (16,93 +- 5,26 ug/g s.m). Zawartość kadmu była największa w stopie ślimaków żyjących w okolicach elektrowni węglowej (20,97 +- 4,52 ug/g s.m), a najmniejsza w muszlach ślimaków z Bohunic (3,45 +- 1,70 ug/g s.m.). Największy poziom miedzi stwierdzono w wątrobie ślimaków z Krakowa, zaś naj niższy w muszlach ślimaków z Bohunic.

Introduction: One of the major nutritional mistakes committed by children and adolescents is snacking between meals. Sweet or salty snacks are rich in simple sugars, fats, preservatives and dyes, and poor in minerals and vitamins. Their excessive consumption can lead to the development of diet-related diseases in the future. Purpose: To evaluate the nutrition of children and adolescents with a focus on snacking between meals. Materials and methods: The study included 162 students from Bialystok schools, of which primary school students accounted for 30.2%, junior high school 38.3%, high school 31.5%. The questionnaire used by the authors contained 27 questions. Results: Regular meals were consumed by only 55.1% of primary school students, 35.5% of junior high school, and 37.3% of high school students. Two and fewer meals a day were consumed by 1.6% to 5.8% of the students studied. First breakfast was omitted by 18.4% of the students in elementary school, 16.1% of junior high school, and 15.7% of high school. Second breakfast was omitted by 12.9% to 17.6% of the respondents.Sweet products instead of a second breakfast were consumed by 44.9% of primary school students, 61.3% of junior high school, and 64.7% of high school students. Snacking most often occurred in the respondents' home (69.4% of elementary school students, 43.5% of secondary level students, and 52.9% of high school students). Water in school was drunk by 85.7% of primary level students, 56.5% of junior high school, and 51.0% of high school. The main source of knowledge about nutrition for 61.2% of primary level students was the family, while television, radio, and the Internet were the main sources of knowledge for 62.7% of high school students. Conclusions: The regularity of eating in the study group decreased with the studied students’ age. The most popular products in the group of younger students were salty snacks and sweets. Healthy snacking was observed more frequently in the group of high school students. The main place of snacking was the home. The primary source of knowledge about nutrition for primary school students was the family and for high school students the mass media.

We have compared differentiation ability of glioblastoma cells with differentiation ability of neural progenitors. An effi cient differentiation arrest was observed in all cell lines isolated from glioblastomas in contrast to normal neural progenitors. However, cells isolated from six glioblastomas showed features of early stages of neural differentiation. Moreover, the cells derived from a majority of glioblastomas (8 out of 10) as well as neural progenitors showed features of non-neural (mesenchymal-like) differentiation. Moreover aggregated cells sustained EGFR amplifi cation, whereas cells grown as a monolayer did not. Cells showing EGFR amplifi cation became apoptotic grown as monolayer. Majority of mesenchymally differentiated glioblastoma cells showed features of senescence. Novel hypotheses which we would like to test are as follows: Neural progenitors could be a potential source of glioblastomas. Glioblastoma presents not only tumor stem cells but also tumor progenitor cells. Stable coexpression of glial and neuronal markers presented by glioblastoma cells results from differentiation arrest. Aggregating glioblastoma cells allows to sustain, EGFR amplifi cation in vitro. Moreover aggregated cells show proliferation ability, and differentiation arrest, whereas monolayer cells can be effi ciently differentiated and fi nally senescent. It suggests that simultaneous analysis of differentiation processes altogether with considering status of genes such as EGFR may help in designing new molecular targets for chemotherapy.
