Gustaw Herling-Grudziński was a writer interested in visual arts – specially in painting. His writings have often been analysed by critics dealing with so called correspondence of arts. The author of his text tries to remind that his literary texts also inspired a great Polish painter – Jan Lebenstein, who illustrated his stories. The author analyses the relationship between literature and painting, pointing out the ways Lebenstein shows important thoughts from Herling’s stories in his drawings.
