Emigration has played an important role in building the image of Poland and Poles. It also affected the foreigner’s perception of Poland. In addition to the impact on the social composition of local communities, the economy in the micro- and macroscale and the culture, it becomes a kind of image-building. The paper proposes a chronological typology of Polish emigration to Latin America. It sets out the relevant factors and motivations leading polish citizens to emigrate. It describes the main trends of migration. Finally, it shows the evolution of the relation with Poland as a country of origin, considering the multi-factorial internal and external conditions of the Polish Diaspora in Latin America.
