Cipriano Vagaggini is listed among the greatest theologians of the twentieth century. Being all-round educated, familiar with the benedictine spirituality and fascinated with the liturgy of the western and eastern church, he may be called a true renaissance man. His work is still a valid guideline to the research on the relationship between liturgy and theology. The fact that he was engaged in the aforementioned renewal of the liturgy is also the testament to his greatness. He was employed in the following commissions concerning the preliminary works as well as the works concluding the Second Vatican Council: De Mysterio sacrae Liturgiae eiusque relatione ad vitam Ecclesiae, De Sacramentis et Sacramentalibus and De liturgiae aptatione ad traditionem et ingenium populorum, Consilium ad exsequendam Con-stitutionem de Sacra Liturgia. Furthermore, he worked on the new Ordo Missae, the lection-aries, the Eucharistic Prayers, the sacrament of confirmation and the sacramentals. The prod-uct of his activity is not only the many liturgical texts, but also a number of publications that.

Dodatkowym elementem pozostaje ukazanie kultu Serca Jezusowego w kontekście historycznym i wpływu pobożności ludowej na oficjalne zatwierdzenie tekstów i świąt liturgicznych.

The term „sanctification” in theology practically always appears in the liturgical context. According to the teachings of the Second Vatican Council, the liturgy is the most perfect, though not the only, place to sanctify human life. Among other forms, a special place of devotion of the Christian people should be mentioned, which, although having the characteristics of particularism, can have a huge impact on the universal Church. In this context, the relationship between the piety of the Christian people and the process of sanctification, which is most precisely expressed in the liturgy, has been shown. In the text, the author analyzes the worship of the Heart of Jesus in the light of two liturgically significant features: worship of God and apostolic work, which is the fruit of the sanctifying power of the liturgy. An additional element remains to show the worship of the Heart of Jesus in the historical context and the impact of popular piety on the official approval of texts and liturgical feasts.

New evangelisation has recently become a great challenge in the life of the Church. This pheno-menon has led to the creation of new spaces and contexts in which the Gospel is now proclaimed. Among them are stadia, gymnasia, assembly halls, and other similar venues. In following this path, the place of the liturgy and its organization in such spaces also needs to be discussed. Of course canon law allows celebration outside a place of worship, but at the same time makes it clear that it is necessary to take great care to maintain the sacrum. The author analyses Church documents which indicate the need for correct and appropriate preparation of celebration sites elsewhere than on consecrated premises. In this context the documents Actio pastoralis, Redemptionis sacramentum, and Eucharisticum mysterium, as well as the introductions to liturgical books, are becoming important.
