In future the medical care will be realised in medical centres. 8 hospitals and 14 specialised centres subordinated to them will be still held. A close co-operation with civilian health service in the field of specialist care and improvement of military medical personnel education are scheduled. It is assumed that the level of services should be close to the level of civilian medical care. Bundeswehre’s new medical tasks of medical support for crisis management forces were defined in „Guidelines Relating to Medical Care of Soldiers in Foreign Operations” and in „Medical Support Conceptions”. A special stress was put on before clinic medical help conditioned, however, by mutual aid and friends’ help. All the soldiers will have to learn the techniques of cardiac pulmonic resuscitation, to administer pain relievers and, in the navy, to apply anti shock infusion. Medical units structures will be created dependent on real tasks performed by forces.

Combat operations, even conducting tasks in peace missions is always connected with the threat of losing life or health. Death and injuries, and in the defence need, the necessity to kill are one of the basic combat determinants. In spite of this, soldiers’ psychological preparation to these extraordinary, in peacetime, events is seldom included into soldier’s training process. The article attempts to approximate this preparation general principles in a study published by the Centre of Bundeswehre Inner Command. The authors, relating to this publication, discuss the tasks and contents of the activity of this kind in the German army. They include such issues as: psychological conditions of soldiers’ behaviour in extreme situations, their possible mental reactions and superior’s behaviour informing about death. The authors provide some of the methodological and organisational suggestions which can be found in the publication mentioned above.

Health protection is one of the most capital demanding national economy departments. Therefore detailed analyses have been carried out concerning health service economic aspects. The costs of medicines and other treatment procedures have been traced. Military health service ought to be restructured in the following areas: organisation, personnel and finances. The basic criterion to choose medical services performer will be its effectiveness measured by: the amount of time necessary for the recovery, lengthening the life time, decreasing death rate and cases of sickness and also frequency of appearing complications. While working on health insurance reform, suggestions of medical doctors and managers should also be taken into consideration.
