Purpose: The paper aims to highlight contemporary environmental challenges and to present innovative ways of their mitigation. The study is based on the activities of the Grupa Azoty Capital Group, one of the leaders among European fertilizer and chemical companies. The methods used by the Company are compared with the most important regulations introduced at the national and international levels, allowing for both the problems and their potential solutions to be presented. Simultaeously, the paper emphasizes the importance of undertaking various activities in the interest of the common good. Design/methodology/approach: To prepare this article, the document analysis method and the comparative method were used. The study is a review in nature. Findings: The article identifies the most important environmental problems and innovative ways to limit them. Social implications: Highlighting the most important environmental challenges should increase the awareness of recipients about the importance of taking responsible actions. In turn, the solutions implemented in the Grupa Azoty Capital Group can serve as inspiration for introducing new, innovative ideas. Originality/value: The article presents the growing environmental problems and attempts to counteract them. The discussion of the latest findings and implemented actions is significant not only from the point of view of entrepreneurs but also consumers, who thus gain a more complete picture of reality.

The paper is an essay showing certain continuity in the process of defining the space of a city and a place. The authoress using examples of American Manhattan and Polish Zakopane, describes two different approaches present in architectural discourse and space design in the first three decades of the XXth century, which promoted defining anthropogenic space in opposition to the nature or as an answer to the challenges arising from the specificity of the geographic context. The visions of the future analysed here can be understood as narrations about ideal ways of the construction of space, not always they have resulted in building certain architectural objects, but they have influenced the imagination of the people of the epoch on the essence of the city and the place, on spaces of home, community and public one, on relations between human being, nature and technology. Historical examples compared to the contemporary visions of the future of cities, such as the concept of smart city (the city packed with sensors and ICT networks) and the concept of postcity (the city which resigns from the dominance of technology in the favor of the ecology and reflection on the role of human being in the urban ecosystem), show that still the nature (its lack or its coexistence) is the important point of reference for contemporary visions of the future, and the element that changes are means of expression, by which designers, architects and urbanists communicate with the public - the users of the urban space. Therefore, it is worth to study the visions which are one hundred years old in order to find their latent narration, having at the same time the consciousness how the visions and technologies evolve before - and if ever - they become reality.

The aim of the paper is to examine the complicated relations between perception in travel, connected with mobility, and media. Travel, is seen here as multidimensional perceptual situation, which is not far from the perceptual experiences connected with the participation in social media and with the reception of mass media. Our perceptual modes of media activity have in fact the strong impact on the ways we see the surrounding while traveling. The dominating oculocentric paradigm of perception, characteristic for Western culture, is in new media strengthened by the experience of tactility and is transforming in travel into the experience which is multisensorial in a deep sense.
