Content available remote Adaptation of the humanoid robot to speech disfluency therapy

The paper describes an application that allows to use a humanoid robot as a stutterer’s assistant and therapist. Auditory and visual feedback has been used in the therapy with a humanoid robot. For this purpose, the common method of “echo” was modified. The modification is that the speaker hears delayed speech sounds uttered by the robot. The sounds of speech coming from an external microphone are captured and delayed by a computer and then, using User Datagram Protocol (UDP), sent to the robot’s system and played in its speakers. This system allows the elimination of negative feedback and external sound field’s noise. The effect of this therapy is enhanced by the fact that, in addition to the effect, relating to the action of the delayed feedback, the speaker has company during the difficult process of speaking. Visual feedback has been realized as changes in the robot’s hand movements according to the shape of the speech signal envelope and possibility of controlling speech with a metronome effect.

The synthesis of the new derivatives of 1,3,5-triazine was presented. The obtained compounds were biologically evaluated under glasshouse conditions. Some of them showed phytocidal activity on the bio indicators in pre- and post-emergence treatments. Compound IPO-11407 (2-methoxy-4-methylamine-6-thioalkyl-l,3,8-triazine) was distinguished by good phytocidal activity and was qualified to the II-nd stage of the screening research. Herbicidal activity of this compound on some weed species at higher rates was good but it was distinctly decreasing at the lower doses.

Dopamine (3,4-dihydroxyphenethylamine) together with adrenaline and noradrenaline belong to the group of catecholamines present in different tissues, predominantly in the nervous system, where they function as neurotransmitters. Our choice of the genetic determinants of the dopaminergic system disorders for the main topic of our project study was influenced by a wide spectrum of influence which the system has on the functions of an organism connected with, for example, its adaptive response to physical effort (it is the very adrenergic system that physiologists call the “work and fight” and even the “fight and flight” system). It is, for example, proven by the confirmed influence of dopaminergic mechanisms on blood pressure, widening of bronchi and a mobilization of energetic substrates. On the other hand, it is worth mentioning another importance of dopamine recognized by psychologists and psychiatrists as the hormone of “motivation, thrill and adventure seeking”, which in sport can be of key importance. That is why we would like to link these two areas – genetic and psychological.
