The article is based on anthropological fieldwork in Ochotnica Górna, a village belonging to Podhale region (southern Poland). The study was focused on the revival of transhumance – the type of pastoralism, characteristic for Valachian villages of the entire range of Carpathians. The transhumance has been destroyed by global economic transformation in Poland. Recently it is revived on the new ideological basis connected with the idea of Carpathian and Valachian regionalism.

In the paper the authors deal with the issue of the perception of people with disabilities by people working as their assistants. They compare two assistance programs for people with disabilities – the program of the city of Warsaw and the program of the Office for People with Disabilities at the University of Warsaw. The authors show that in the assistants’ statements one can find three images of “strangeness” of people with disabilities and analyze in details their content. Only one of them is a picture showing a social inclusion, and two others – although they seem to be positive – create distance between people with disabilities and the rest of society.

The authors who study Roma minorities analyse the dispute over the name of this group. In the Polish language there are two names: “Romowie” (Roma) and “Cyganie” (“Gypsies”). Many contemporary leaders of this community consider only the name “Romowie” appropriate and expect it to be used to refer to the group, arguing the name exists in the Romani language. They consider the notion “Cyganie” pejorative. There are, however, many opponents to the name “Romowie” among Roma, too. The dispute that unfolds within the community interlinks with the efforts Roma make to achieve the recognition of their globally scattered community as a nation. It is also an evidence of ethnic emancipation and transformations that the community experiences and that have been coined ‘Romanisation of “Cyganie”’ by Lech Mróz. The authors set out to interpret this situation using ethnographic material gathered among the Roma communities in Poland.

Introduction Nowadays, heart is one of the most demanding organs for imaging procedures. This is related to its irregular shape and complex internal structure. Increased demand for imaging complex cardiac structures has resulted in the development of novel 3D modeling techniques. Not only did the methods of imaging the organs of the living patients developed in recent years, but also new methods of post-mortem analysis. Acquired 3D models have a number of applications, both clinical and educational. Detailed knowledge of the morphology of right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) is extremely important in terms of cardio-invasive therapeutic procedures. Its significance was noticed during the exploration of the optimal pacing sites in the area of right ventricle. What is more, accurate analysis of the RVOT morphology and spatial structure is also the basis for the treatment of ventricular arrhythmias which foci are located within the outflow tract. The aim of this study was to elaborate the most accurate technique of preparing interior models of the right ventricle and digitizing them to the 3D form. For this purpose we used a silicone molding of the heart cavities with digital photogrammetry.
