The eightieth anniversary of the death of the outstanding social worker, writer, printer and local government administrator, Karol Jan Rybacki (1859– 1935), was an opportune occasion to recall this figure and pay tribute to what he achieved for Łowicz for most of the 75 years of his industrious life. The cultural heritage, as well as the social life, of the city would have been much poorer without him. The fruits of his labour are not only to be found in the archives containing the historical annals of the weekly “Łowiczanin” he published, but also in his ideas, many of which are still being put into practice by any number of institutions and social organisations. His self-effacement was such that it is only now that the part he played and the contribution he made to the development of the city can be appreciated. That is because he was concerned with preserving the memories of others, and remained in the shadows of his own professional works and public achievements.

Osmdesáté výročí smrti Karola Jana Rybackiego (1859–1935), velmi známého společenského aktivist, spisovatele, nakladatele, tiskaře a lokálniho politika je příležitostí připomenout si jeho osobnost a složit hold jeho činnosti, které běhen svého pracovitého života věnoval většinou městu Łowicz. Bez něho by naše kulturní dědictví, ale také společenský život města nad Bzurą mohly být velice chudé. Ovoce jeho velké práce dnes můžeme najít nejen v archivech, které obsahují historické ročníky týdeníku „Łowiczanin”, který Rybacki vydával, ale také v pokračování mnoha jeho ideí, které naplňují mnohé instituce a společenské organizace. Karolova skromnost způsobila, že teprve dnes můžeme náležitě ocenit jeho práci a přínos rozvoji města. Snažil se o uchování památek jiných, ale sám zůstával ve stínu svých děl a čínů.
