The growing participation of SME sector in active forms of inlernationalisation and the beneficial influence such kinds of entities on economy is unarguable. Therefore, it is crucial to scrutinise the activity of Polish small and medium-sized enterprises on international markets. Basing on own studies, it has been shown which forms of internationalisation are most frequently used by companies of SME sector and how the entrepreneurs gain foreign business partners. The issue of public aid has been discussed in the last part.
