The article provides a  brief review of internal and external factors that determine corporate investment. The results of empirical researches on investment determinants are quoted. They suggest that the key factors for investment, generally speaking, are connected with an economic condition, uncertainty and risk, and the level of financial development.

The paper employs an analysis of cointegration to investigate whether the gold silver ratio may be useful in the process of investment in gold and silver denominated in PLN and in structured certificates based on them. The obtained results indicate a lack of long-run relationship between the prices of gold and silver expressed in PLN as well as between trackers based on those metals quoted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
