The traditional statistics education has been changed rapidly and most of courses in statistics have adopted some kind of computer practice and Web-teaching systems. There is a huge variety of web-based statistics resources available. Those systems contents combine e-books, tutorials, multimedia and interactive presentations in various formats, simulation experiments. A short personal review of different e-learning system for statistics is done in the paper. It describes the development of four web-teaching systems prepared in four countries. There are described EMILeA-stat (Germany), CASE (Japan), St@tNet (French) and e-StatEdu (Korea) in the paper. This review reveals facts that could be taken into account by constructors of e-learning platforms in statistics.
In last few years in Department ot Statistics at the University of Economics in Katowice a process has started which is to result with introduction of special teaching system. The prepared system is to be very useful in teaching process of such courses as statistics, introduction to statistics (descriptive statistics) and mathematical statistics. Tutorials on these courses are lead in computer laboratories. Students are much more interested in the subject when they can learn with the use of computers than it used to be during classes lead in traditional way. Their participation in classes has more active character and for some time an improvement of their exam results has been observed. In the process of improvement of the teaching system many activities have been undertaken which main aims are the unification of exam papers, preparation of materials used during tutorials and multimedia presentations. In the paper the examples of materials used in teaching process are presented. These are Microsoft Excel files with sets of statistical problems, with solved problems and files that allow to solve problems interactively. The prepared system of multimedia presentations with solutions of some problems in field of descriptive statistics and mathematical statistics and the didactic presentations of some statistical issues are also presented.
This paper deals with the idea of computer support for efforts associated with the creation and correction of examination tests. It aims at finding a reasonable compromise between the benefits and risks associated with automatization of examination tests processing. An attempt was made to establish the scope of tasks that should be computersupported and the scope of tasks that should not. The requirements for such software were formulated with respect to the course of Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics. Moreover, the KSWPPK software package developed by the Author in the Department of Statistics, Katowice University of Economics and devoted to the support of examination test processing is presented.

The power of computer simulation as a problem-solving is well known. The Monte Carlo study can be used in parameter estimation, hypothesis testing and resampling methods, such as bootstrap and jackknife. The educational role of computer simulation is considered in the paper. The use of Monte Carlo study can promote a deep conceptual understanding of statistics. The programs, which can be used for preparation the simulation projects and the examples of educational computer simulation are described in the paper.
Nowadays human being with their great intelligence potential and ability to use it effectively is a valuable source in economy called human capital. What determines the quality of the above mentioned capital is the current educational policy. The educational policy is also one of the factors that affects the situation on the labour market. Moreover, the quality of the educational proposition decides about the future structure of the supply on the labour market. Thus, the essential concern is to define the needs of the labour market according to the local and regional plans of socioeconomic development. The reform of public administration, which was introduced in 1999, created legal bases for functioning of the two new kinds of local government — the district and the autonomous voivodship, next to the parish existing since 1990. The emerging situation resulted in the division of competence. A lot of hitherto existing administration tasks was passed to the local government units, including tasks concerning educational policy and the labour market policy. In this way the above mentioned units became institutions which not only effectively operated particular policies but also thoroughly coordinated all the undertaken operations. Such complex approach to the educational and the labour market policies allows the local government units to influence in the long term the situation on the local and the regional labour market.
