Maintaining a positive image is the responsibility of many institutions, as it brings immeasurable benefits, the most important one being public trust. This is why, shaping of the reputation requires multidimensional ventures on different levels of activity. Measures undertaken by the police to build their positive image are therefore an extremely important element of their functioning. For that reason, the research problem was stated in one question: What factors influence the positive image of the Police in Lębork? The aim of the study was not only to present theoretical issues concerning the formation of the image of the police, but above all to articulate factors that have a significant impact on its positive formation. The study used theoretical and empirical research methods, i.e. analysis of literature, analysis of activities undertaken by the District Police Headquarters in Lębork and inference as a cognitive factor of the subject under analysis. The results of the research indicate that the positive image of the police is determined by such factors as: commitment, personal culture and interpersonal skills of the police officers. At the same time, it can be concluded that the positive image is a derivative of the effectiveness of their ability to ensure public safety. The perception of the police by the citizens depends mainly on the predisposition and professional preparation of officers to perform their duties, therefore one could conclude that the recruitment to the formation should be carried out with the application of rigorous recruitment and selection methods. The positive image of the police will also be strengthened as the sense of security among the society increases.

On 30 January 2020. The World Health Organisation (WHO) declared an outbreak caused by the new SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes COVID19 . In Poland, on the other hand, a state of epidemic emergency was declared on 14 March 2020 and all uniformed, medical and epidemiological services were placed on standby. The new, unforeseen situation has had a dramatic impact not only on economic sectors, but above all on citizens' sense of personal security. It has made it necessary for many institutions to consolidate their activities and to seek solutions that would allow society to cope with an unknown phenomenon and to maintain at least a minimum sense of security. Consequently, social campaigns were one of the ways to raising awareness and presenting solutions to reduce the risks affecting personal security associated with the epidemic. Among numerous activities of a preventive nature, social campaigns are a tool for promoting ideas and attitudes, whileat the same time being a form of activating the addressees to undertake pro-social behaviour and to eliminate attitudes that negatively influence the health, life and development of society. A social campaign, as a persuasive message, should evoke attitudes and behaviours that are socially desirable and induce to the abandonment of behaviours that violate the legal order or the sense of social security. The purpose of the study is to present the concept of personal security and related issues. At the same time, the paper attempts to answer the question of what social advertising is at the level of programmes creating pro-social behaviour and seeks an answer to the question of the effectiveness of social campaigns broadcast during pandemics and their impact on increasing the sense of personal safety. In particular, whether this social media tool is fulfilling its mission. Undoubtedly, social campaigns are seen as an element that increases the effectiveness of personal safety measures, as they provide tools to reach a specific population. The paper uses empirical and theoretical research methods, including: literature analysis, analysis of phenomena occurring in society and inference as a cognitive factor of the subject under analysis. It was assumed that social campaigns have a significant influence on increasing the feeling of personal safety and the results of the research made it possible to identify the most effective elements used in social campaigns.

Accidents at work and occupational diseases have a negative impact not only on the psychophysical condition of employees and the image of the company, but also, above all, on productivity, and thus on social and economic development. Ensuring safe and hygienic working conditions is the responsibility of every employer but without additional forms of support it does not suffice to prevent and stop accidents at work. The employer should constantly implement measures to improve safety so as to prevent accidents at work. One of such activities may be to promote safe and healthy working conditions. It is a program that allows raising employees’ awareness and knowledge about occupational hazards and risks related to their work, as well as about methods of protection against effects of these hazards and risks. The purpose of the article is to present the concept of promotion and its tools in popularizing safe and hygienic working conditions. The article is also an attempt to answer, on the basis of the results of surveys conducted in the form of individual reviews, the question whether the promotion of safe and hygienic working conditions improves the safety of employees, reduces or eliminates accidents at work, and broadens employees’ knowledge.

Providing safe and healthy working conditions is the responsibility of every employer, but without additional forms of support, this may not be enough to prevent and stop accidents at work. The employer should continually implement measures to improve safety and continually look after the health and lives of his employees. One such measure may be to implement the concept of corporate social responsibility in the company's strategy, taking into account OSH regulations. It is a programme to raise the awareness and knowledge of workers about hazards and occupational risks associated with their work and how to effectively protect themselves against their effects. The aim of the article is to present the concept of corporate social responsibility in terms of safe and healthy working conditions. At the same time, the article is an attempt to answer the question - based on the results of surveys that are an individual review - what is the level of society's knowledge about CSR and to estimate the relationship between corporate social responsibility and occupational safety and health in the workplaces of students of the Pomeranian University in Słupsk.

The aim of the study is not only an attempt to define the concept of “apoliticality of the police” and its meaning, but above all, to draw attention to the increasingly emerging problem of interference by the participants of the political scene in the work of the Polish Police. For the purposes of this study, the notions of “political neutrality” and “apoliticality” are equivalent and synonymous. The main problem is the search for an answer to the question of whether the Polish Police nowadays are adequately protected against the influence of political pressure? The text uses theoretical research methods, including literature analysis and statistical data analysis. It was assumed that the apolitical nature of the police means the lack of involvement of police officers in political activities and the scrupulous and impartial performance of official duties, regardless of what is happening on the Polish political scene. The results of the conducted analyses allow the conclusion that the apolitical nature of the Polish Police is a mystification because it is insufficiently protected against the influence of politics, which as a consequence leads to a reduction in its effectiveness and social trust.

The links between a port and its city, region and further economic hinterland mean that the socio-economic processes taking place in a seaport affect not only the economic and social phenomena occurring in the port itself, but also the development processes on a regional and national scale, which directly affect hundreds of thousands of people. The research problem is: How to eliminate port threats that translate directly into urban and community safety? The goal is to be able to recognise and minimise threats and implement solutions that ensure not only the safety of ports but also of neighbouring urban agglomerations. Seaport development plans must be correlated with the development of port security systems and measures. The transformation of ports into fourth-generation ports brings with it an increase in technical threats which obliges both the governmental maritime administration and port operators to pay special attention to security. The study used theoretical research methods, i.e. literature analysis, analysis of phenomena occurring in the economy and inference as a cognitive factor of the analysed subject. The results of the research indicate that ensuring security, i.e. minimising threats, before emergencies arise, in port cities and regions is a guarantee not only of smooth development and functioning of the economy but also of undisturbed international cooperation and exchange. The use of appropriate solutions to minimise the threats associated with the activities of seaports significantly affects not only their safety but also the safety of the port urban agglomerations and the maritime transport chain. As a result, it contributes to the urban and economic development of port cities and entire regions.

Background: In the era of the global threat of terrorist attacks, seaports implement a number of measures to eliminate them. As part of these activities, in addition to threat definition and risk analysis, they also take into account applicable normative documents, both international and national. However, many of these documents equate port terrorist threats with maritime terrorism, which until now has not been clearly defined. It would therefore seem desirable to define terrorist acts threatening seaports as a separate form of terrorism. Consequently, the research problem closed with the question: Is maritime terrorism the same as port terrorism and what factors distinguish them from each other? Objectives: The aim of this paper is not only to present the theoretical issues of the subject, but above all to articulate the factors that distinguish threats of maritime terrorism from threats of port terrorism and to prove that these are two different issues (problems). Methods: Theoretical research methods were used in this study, i.e. analysis of the literature, analysis of the acts of maritime terrorism that have occurred so far, and inference, which is a cognitive factor of the subject under analysis. Results: The results of the research indicate that there are significant differences between a terrorist attack on the high seas and a terrorist attack on a seaport regarding not only the consequences but also the scale of the threat.
