In the paper we formulate the sufficient condition which must satisfy an irreducible acyclic matrix A to be alpha-scalar diagonally stable. Moreover we consider the existence of positive definite diagonal matrix C and positive definite alpha-scalar matrix D such that DA+ATD=C. These conditions are the generalizations of several theorems which are the necessary and sufficient condition which must satisfy square matrix A to exist positive diagonal matrices C and D such that DA+ATD=C.

Two new genera are recognized: Piezaplemonus (Piezotrachelini, type species: P. orientalis n. sp.) from Thailand and Nanomyrmacyba (tentatively Piezotrachelini, type species: N. minuta n. sp.) from Sumatra. Further two new species are described: Myrmacyba annae from Batjan Is. and Rhadinocyba krausei from New Caledonia.

(tymczasowo Piezotrachelini, gatunek typowy — N. minuta n. sp., Sumatra), Myrmacyba annae n. sp. (Pulau Batjan) i Rhadinocyba krausei n. sp. (Nowa Kaledonia).

The phenomenon considered to be a kind of swarming was observed in eastern Poland in two unrelated weevil species: a dryophthorine Sphenophorus striatopunctatus, and erirhinine Notaris granulipennis. Like in many Cleoninae, both were observed to aggregate and mate in sandy areas, far from places where they could develop.

Two weevil species of the family Curculionidae were collected in Poland for the first time: Gymnetron rotundicolle GYLLENHAL, 1838 and Zacladus exiguus (OLIVIER, 1807). The data about biology and current distribution of both species are collected. A new identification key for the Polish species of Gymnetron is proposed, and distinctive characters of the two Polish species of Zacladus are briefly summarized. Recent changes in the weevil fauna of Poland are commented in general.

Ceutorhynchus varius Rey, 1895, formerly considered to be a variety of C. hirtulus Germar, 1824, is revealed to be a valid species and redescribed. It lives on Arabidopsis thaliana (L.) Heynh. (Brassicaceae) and is recorded from France, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria and Bulgaria. Lectotypes are designated for C. varius Rey and C. hirtulus Germar.

New distributional data concerning 11 species of Salpingidae known to occur in Poland are given. Lissodema cursor (GYLLENHAL) is recorded for the first time from the Mazurian Lakeland, Małopolska Upland and Białowieża Primeval Forest; Rabocerus gabrieli (GERHARDT) from the Małopolska Upland; Sphaeriestes stockmanni (BISTROM) from the Małopolska Lowland, and Vincenzellus ruficollis (PANZER) from the Baltic Coast and Sandomierska Lowland.

New records of 15 species of the pselaphine tribe Bythinini in Poland are presented. Bryaxis bulbifer is for the first time reported to occur in the Masurian Lakeland, Podlasie, the Białowieża Primeval Forest, the Małopolska Upland, the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, and the Sandomierz Basin; Br. carpathicus in the Bieszczady Mountains; Br. clavicornis in the Mazovian Lowland, the Białowieża Primeval Forest, and the Bieszczady Mountains; Br. curtisii in the Pomeranian and Masurian Lakelands, the Małopolska Upland, and the Pieniny Mountains; Br. nigripennis in the Pieniny Mountains; Br. puncticollis in the Pomeranian and Masurian Lakelands, the Mazovian Lowland, the Małopolska Upland, and the Świętokrzyskie Mountains; Br. reitteri in the Bieszczady Mountains; Br. weisei in the Pieniny and Bieszczady Mountains; Bythinus burrelli in the Pomeranian Lakeland, the Małopolska Upland, and Świętokrzyskie Mountains; Bt. macropalpus in Podlasie and the Sandomierz Basin; and Bt. securiger in the Eastern Beskidy Mountains. The occurrence in Poland of the extremely rare Br. frivaldszkyi slovenicus is confirmed, whereas the nominotypical subspecies is removed from the checklist of the beetles of Poland.
