As a result of the faunistic studies conducted in 2014-2015 in eight promotional forest complexes in Poland, 14 species of saproxylic beetles were recorded, representing 10 families. The presence of new localities for saproxylic beetles, i.e. Evodinellus borealis (Gyll.) (Cerambycidae), Pediacus dermestoides (F.) (Cucujidae), Triplax scutellaris Charp. (Erotylidae), Benibotarus taygetanus (Pic) (Lycidae) and Hallomenus axillaris (Ill.) (Tetratomidae), was also recorded.

During the research, 561 individuals represented by 35 species of minute brown scavenger beetles (Coleoptera: Latridiidae) were recorded in the area of Kozienicka Forest and the vicinities of Radom (Central Poland). Both in the area of the Kozienice Forest, as well as in the administrative borders of the city of Radom, 25 species of Latridiidae were found in total. The number of species shared in both areas was 15. Of all Latridiidae identified, 15 species were not previously reported from the Mazowiecka Lowland, and 13 from the Małopolska Upland. The most rare species in Poland were: Corticaria alleni, Corticarina lambiana, Dienerella clathrata, Melanophthalma maura , M. rispini and M. suturalis.

Xorides (Moerophora) dorotae Hilszczański sp. nov. and X. (Xorides) minos Hilszczański sp. nov. from Crete are newly described and figured. Species of Xoridinae (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) from Greece are listed. Only X. corcyrensis (Kriechbaumer) and Odontocolon appendiculatum (Gravenhorst) had been known so far from the country. Odontocolon quercinum Thomson, X. berlandi Clèment, X. propinquus (Tschek), X. praecatorius (F.) and X. gravenhorstii Curtis are new for the Greek fauna. Aegomorphus krueperi Kraatz (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) is recorded as a host for X. propinquus.

W artykule przedstawiono koncepcję metodyki akwizycji danych z urządzeń po-miarowych zainstalowanych w mobilnym laboratorium badawczym.

This article presents the concepts of methods used for data acquisition in mobile laboratory equip-ment. The proposal includes feasibility study and evaluation of Web Services technology used for wireless data transmission in electronic animal weigh scale Tru-Test 3000. Data transmission is accomplished through the use of Web Services built on Microsoft SharePointŽ platform. The identificationof examined animals is accomplished by use of RFID tags, that conforms the European Union's standards ISO 11784 and ISO 11785.The acquired data, processed for data cleaning, quality control and preliminary analysis will en-able further processing in purpose of knowledge extraction in data mining process. The use of data mining will enable the evaluation of influenceand significanceof selected beef production factors on the traits that are most important for consumers.

Based on literature review, the occurrence and biology of the sharp−dentated bark beetle Ips acuminatus (Gyll.) in Scots pine stands of Europe was presented. The economic significance of this species in Poland over the past 50 years was also characterized, including the size of the damage caused as a result of trees infestation. The sharp−dentated bark beetle belongs to the most dangerous pest of pine stands, which is mostly due to the fact that it attacks trees without visible symptoms of weakness. Furthermore, the trees in the early stages of infestation are very difficult to identify in the field. In addition, stain fungi are introduced into the wood as a result of tunneling of both, adult beetles and larvae under the bark, which cause staining of wood and thus substantially reduce the quality and economic value of timber. Since 2015, in Scots pine forests in Poland the systematic increase in the abundance of population of sharp−dentated bark beetle is observed, resulting in increasing amount of Scots pine wood harvested in the sanitary cuttings. To reduce the damage caused by I. acuminatus in the endangered pine stands a number of activities related to active forest protection should be implemented. It is also necessary to monitor the population of this species continuously.
