The object of the article is Franciszek Morawski’s commentary on his List do klasyków (Letter to the Classicists), a part of Klasycy i romantycy polscy (Polish Classicists and Romantics 1829). The poet makes use of thought of Johannes von Müller and Émile Deschamps in order to motivate the settlement between the Classicists and the Romantics. Only the settlement, which is in fact a sign of aesthetic-literary eclecticism, can enliven Classicism of that time. The rule of imitation, quite mechanically understood, and fear of any innovation in poetry are the reason of its decay.
The international conference “Rozmyślanie przemyskie [”The Przemyśl Meditation”] as Evidence of Medieval Literary and Religious Culture in View of Ages” (Przemyśl-Krasiczyn, 12th–14th June, 2014) aimed at reconsidering medieval roots of West – and East-Slavonic culture-borderland. Participants of the conference represented research centres from Poland, Ukraine and Russia. Text of Rozmyślanie przemyskie, genesis and transfiguration of apocryphal motifs of its narrative and influence of that literary and preaching work on Slavonic folklore were the three main objects of reflection. The lecturers stressed two matters especially: textual multi-layer complexity of Rozmyślanie przemyskie and persistence of Christ’s childhood motifs in Slavonic oral folklore. The conference was organized by the State East-European College in Przemyśl, the University of Rzeszów, the Maria Skłodowska-Curie University in Lublin, and the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (Ukraine).
