Mapping out a strategy for the development of tourism requires systematic observance of the changes over longer and shorter periods of time. An analysis of the gathered data on domestic tourists visiting the Lubelskie Voivodship in the years 2001–2010 concerned: the number of tourists, the purposes of the visits, the accommodation, and the seasonal choice of the visits. The analysis that was made shows an unfavorable view of domestic tourism in the Lubelskie Voivodship in terms of the number of tourists, the accommodation and the purposes of the visits. The only favorable premise is the increasing percentage of tourists visiting the region in the winter. The ongoing discussion on the proper strategy for the Lubelskie Voivodship for the following years thus should be adjusted to reflect its assets for tourism.

In times of prevailing civilization diseases physical activity has become not only a vital element of a healthy lifestyle but also a duty of every human being. Subsequently published studies present the levels of physical activity in various socio-professional groups and the degree to which they meet health promotion recommendations. The challenge of today's times however is the search for new, often atypical or niche social groups and their efforts in undertaking and promoting physical activity. Such a type of group undoubtedly includes persons in the Independent Cultural Centers (ICCs) operating in Poland. The research conducted among them is probably the first attempt to get to know this social group and, above all, the physical activity undertaken by its members. Despite the fact that the activities of Independent Cultural Centers are organized in a bottom-up manner, in accordance with the Do It Yourself principle, their initiatives, including those related to physical culture, enable participants to achieve beneficial health outcomes. The results of the conducted research show that, following the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) criteria, a vast majority of the respondents are sufficiently and highly active. Moreover, compared to similar groups in other respects, they also come out more favorably.

Introduction. The aim of this study was to assess the motivating and informing activities taken by physical education teachers in the classes devoted to shaping students' motor skills. Material and methods. The study was carried out in 55 secondary schools from Lublin region. It covered 30 female teachers and 52 male teachers representing all levels of career advancement. Material was collected on the basis of specially developed lesson observation sheet. On this basis, the information of 315 lessons was obtained. Results. The data were analyzed in relation to gender and professional promotion of the subjects. It was found that the respondents did better with informing than motivating activities, and in their implementation there were no major differences between female and male teachers. The tendency to change the level of the analyzed activities according to the professional promotion status occurred only among male teachers. Conclusions. Analysis showed that the teachers should place more emphasis on motivating activities, and especially on convincing students about the possibilities in the use of after-school activity of what they mastered in the classroom.

The primary objective of the study was recognition of the forms of sports and recreational activities of the disabled living in the regions of Rzeszów, Lublin and Białystok, and determination of the benefits drawn by them from participation in these activities. A total number of 750 were examined. The representative group was selected by the stratified random sampling method. The study was conducted by the method of a diagnostic survey. Research material was collected by means of mutually supplementary research techniques: questionnaire, interview, observation, and analysis of documentation. A detailed analysis of the results obtained allowed the presumption that more than half of the people with disabilities from the eastern regions of Poland participate in sports-recreational activities, with the largest number of respondents with a mild degree of disability. The majority of respondents approach their participation in sports-recreational activities not simply as a form of therapeutic rehabilitation. Respondents most frequently participated in walks, marches, and rehabilitation gymnastics. The largest percentage of respondents had never participated in hydrobics, horseback riding, hippotherapy, and swimming. A considerable number of the respondents would like to participate in - apart from walks, marches, and rehabilitation gymnastics - team games and swimming. According to the respondents’ opinions, forms of sports-recreational activities that are most recommended with respect to the degree and type of disability are: rehabilitation gymnastics, walks, marches, and swimming. Due to the participation in sports-recreational and tourism activities, those with disabilities have a good general well being, their state of health improves, they make new acquaintances and social contacts, make new friends, and elevate their physical efficacy and endurance. The respondents also indicated a change from sedentary lifestyle as well as satisfaction from overcoming both imperfections of own body and anxiety resulting from disability.

Introduction. The neglect of the needs and potential of the schoolgirls and the dismissive attitude of the teachers towards the pupils and the PE classes are the main causes of the schoolgirls' reluctance to attend the classes and also their lack of propensity towards physical activity in general. Studies of child and youth opinions towards the PE classes show that a number of factors are to be taken into account. The aim of the paper was to ascertain the opinions of the survey participants towards the realized and model PE class and also to ascertain effective ways of pursuing the PE curricula for girls. The article reveals factors discouraging the schoolgirls and reducing their expectations as far as PE classes are concerned. Material and methods. The material for the study were 314 schoolgirls and 51 teachers from Biała Podlaska elementary, middle and high schools. The paper was based on the study conducted with analysis of a questionnaire form and a survey. The survey was conducted in April, 2011. Results. The information obtained from the questionnaires that were filled in by the schoolgirls were compiled and compared with the data from the surveys given by the teachers working with the schoolgirls. Conclusions. Both the girls and the teachers have a positive attitude towards the PE classes, whilst observing a number of perceived faults. Criticism was aimed at a lack of variety in the classes and that the needs, potential and interests of the girls were not taken into account and also the lack of involvement of the girls in the process of planning and pursuing the classes. The girls responded positively to the 2009 education reform proposals. The PE teachers also endorsed the proposals.

Background: The aim of the study was to present data on subjective and objective assessments of physical activity in employed women and differences in their activity levels depending on age, education level, place of residence, financial status, and BMI. Another aim was to evaluate correlations of physical activity assessed subjectively and objectively with the aforementioned variables. Methods: Ninety employed women aged 50 to 64 years were divided into 3 groups. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ-S) was used for the subjective assessment, and the ActiGraph GT3X activity monitor was used for objective assessment. Results: The subjective assessment of total physical activity levels in the women was significantly higher than their objective assessment. The statistically significantly highest physical activity levels assessed by means of the questionnaire were found for women with the poorest financial status, or primary or secondary education levels and, for the assessments using accelerometers, the women with a BMI indicating overweight. A weak positive correlation (R = 0.25) was found between the total physical activity levels assessed subjectively and objectively. Conclusions: It seems that the use of only one tool for evaluation of physical activity level is not very conclusive. The use of both subjective and objective tools is needed to obtain reliable information about physical activity level.
