Józefa Joteyko was the outstanding scientist in the end of the 19th and in the beginning of the 20th century. Together with Maria Skłodowska-Curie she was the most famous woman and scientist of Polish origin in Europe. She was given the right to present her lectures in the Collége de France and she was, after Adam Mickiewicz, the second Polish lecturer at this great academy. She had committed her life to scientific disciplines which included child neurology, neurophysiology, psychology and pedagogy. She had managed to develop each of them evenly with the same progress and in relation to children. Such approach was aimed at understanding the child and gathering the knowledge about its character and predisposition. These was also meant to help in determining what kind of educational and professional way the child should take. The present-day psychological and pedagogic clinics are the practical fulfilment of Józefa Joteyko’s idea and we cannot imagine the contemporary education without the support of such institutions.

Both episodic memory and executive deficits are considered common and clinically significant consequences of traumatic brain injury. The paper reviews the current literature on memory and executive impairment in children and adolescents after traumatic brain injury so as to determine if children who sustained trauma at younger age are more or less vulnerable to persistent deficits in these domains. Apart from the significance of age at injury, the paper addresses a few methodological issues pertaining to the reviewed studies. The most popular methods used to assess episodic memory and executive function in children and adolescents are discussed in terms of their scope and limitations. Studies on the long-term cognitive sequelae of traumatic brain injury in children are scarce, and the scope of episodic memory and executive function assessment seems insufficient to fully understand the pattern of deficits. The profile of cognitive deficits and their trajectory over time is much less understood in children and adolescents than in the adult population after traumatic brain injury. Adolescents are often included in adult groups, which does not contribute to the understanding of deficits in this patient cohort. It seems that early brain injury is associated with poorer long-term prognosis. However, long-term prospective and comprehensive studies on memory and executive dysfunction due to traumatic brain injury in children and adolescents would be needed to fully understand the trajectory of deficits and the importance of the relationship between the time of injury and critical periods in the cognitive development.

Another way to stimulate the occupational therapy, which involves the realm of the physical, mental and social man usually less active in general. The objectives of occupational therapy are similar to the general objectives underlying any form of physical activity, and that is the behavior of self-reliance, independence and efficiency. The aim of the study is to analyze different activation programs in relation to the functional capacity of women aged 60+.We analyzed two fundamentally different activation programs seniors: occupational therapy program implemented in the Daily Nursing Home for the Elderly in Gdansk and health training program in the form of Nordic Walking realized within statutory research. The material tested is 48 women over the age of 60, after 24 people training Nordic Walking 3 times a week for 60 minutes, and 24 people participating in occupational therapy.Physical activity is an effective means to maintain physical for a long time, it can also be an effective means of shaping it during aging. Physical activity should begin early. Then you can expect spectacular effects of training, and thus a high physical translates directly to high levels of positive physical health. You can expect to achieve in this area, the leader among his peers. You can go ahead and prepare for old age, efficient, independent and self.
