The aim of the study is to introduce a simple technique that could be applied for monitoring and analyzing the quality defects of a product in order to perform an adequate investigation that leads easily to the right problem diagnosis. A case study that demonstrates the application practice is presented. In the General Pipe Company at Benghazi - Libya, the inspecting tests indicate that a lot of the produced pipes failed to meet the designated specifications. The conditions of the coil production and the percent of defects in each month is specified and illustrated in different graphs. The analysis shows that the lamination defects originated at the casting stage of producing the billets and clearly materialized during the hot rolling process of coils.
