The Multipurpose ammunition was invented, at Raufoss more than 25 years ago, to cover a wide range of targets. It was designed to have armour penetration capabilities, and a delayed action. The High Explosive does not detonate, but deflagrates, and therefore produces large and heavy fragments within the target.
