This paper examines the pattern of self-employment in Poland based on the theory of Dawson, Henley, and Latreille. I particularly focus on the movement of young people in and out of self-employment using available statistical data from Poland. Forces that influence whether a person becomes self-employed are the following: due to legal issues and individuals needs, people including young ones were particularly likely to move to self-employment. I also consider that previous earnings were a motivation for moving toward self-employment. Nevertheless the Polish regulations and pensions problems are influencing the probability of leaving self-employment are different across the two countries.

W artykule przedstawiono zależność między strukturą kapitału a korporacyjnymi wynikami struktury kapitałowej spółek giełdowych w Polsce. Głównym celem tego opracowania jest zbadanie, które teorie struktury kapitałowej lepiej opisują decyzje finansowe w wybranych polskich spółkach notowanych na Giełdzie Papierów Wartościowych w Warszawie i należących do indeksu WIG20. Dane pochodzą z konsolidowanych sprawozdań finansowych audytowanych 14 firm z indeksu WIG20.

The paper investigates the relationship between capital structure and firm performance for the capital structure of listed companies in Poland. The main objective of this paper is to investigate which capital structure theories better describes the financing decisions in selected Polish companies traded on WIG20 index of the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The data come from consolidated financial statements audited of 14 companies of the WIG20.

The main aim of this article is to analyze some aspects of the historical roots of the North Korean ideology and political system. This study argues that the North Korean ideology is to a certain extent rooted in the historical background of the Korean Peninsula but has also been purposely changed and manipulated in form to deal with at-the-time difficulty and circumstance that the regime faced. Meanwhile what can be observed in the North Korean ideology is that there is no direct referring to the antecedents. These claims are illustrated in this article by various primary material of a propagandistic nature published in North Korea and by research articles.

Th e considered text aims at explaining how companies are valued an assessed in Central Europe aft er the collapse of the Soviet Union. In the fi rst part of the text, a global overview of the theory of valuations is provided. Th e fi rst part includes the major type of valuations that are utilized by professional from the valuation sector. Th e fi rst part includes the main valuations methodes (the net book value, discounted cash fl ows and multiples -market capitalization to fi nancial indicators of a considered company-). Th e second part of the text concerns particularly the societies of Central Europe as well as the specifi cs of this region. Some examples of European companies are provided and studied. Multiples of Central European Countries are studied as well as other factors related to the fi nancial assesment of companies. We will particularly remark that multiples are highly diff erent from one country to the other and therefore the fundamental analysis is less strict in Central Europe in comparison to Western countries of Europe.

Le texte ci-contre se donnera pour vocation d’expliquer la manière dont sont évaluées les sociétés en Europe Centrale suite aux changements économiques qui se sont déroulés après la chute de l’empire soviétique. Dans la première partie du texte ci-dessous se trouve un rappel théorique concernant les méthodes d’évaluations. La première partie comprend les principaux types d’estimations (la méthode du patrimoine, l’actualisation et les comparables – capitalisation boursière en comparaison aux principaux indicateurs fi nanciers de sociétés). La seconde partie du texte concernera tout particulièrement les sociétés d’Europe Centrale ainsi que ces spécifi cités. Des exemples de sociétés d’Europe Centrale seront donnés et étudiés. Les comparables de Sociétés d’Europe Centrale seront étudiés ainsi que d’autres éléments relatifs aux estimations fi nancières de sociétés. On y remarquera tout particulièrement que les multiples des comparables varient très fortement d’un pays à l’autre et que par la-même l’analyse fondamentale se révèle être moins suivie en Europe Centrale qu’en Europe Occidentale.

Th e considered text aims at explaining the passion of the former North Korean leader Kim Jong Il (1942-2011) for cinema. Th e paper will proceed in three steps: Explaining the Cinema Passion of Kim Jong Il, outlining its realizations in North Korea. Th e third party will focus on the kidnapping of Choi Seun Hee and Shin Sang Ok. Kim Jong Il wanted that all fi lms were made according to the North Korean ideology for which he was responsible. Starting from the mid 1970’s, Kim Jong Il implemented cinema in his strategical polical approach through some of the political departments of the Korea Workers’ Party. North Korean movies were supposed to strengthen and legitimate the power of the Kim family and the image of North Korea abroad. As far as media were under the control of the state organization Kim Jong Il was a director, a producer, even a costume maker, a screenwriter, cameraman, a sound engineer and he was also seen as a fi lm theorist. What has to be enlighten is the fact that until the his death, Kim Jong Il was aff ected by cinema.

Relations between North Korea and China are not improving on political matters since 2006, when North Korea started to do regular nuclear attempts. In order to explain the nature of relations between these both countries, I propose to apply the framework of Game theory. These concepts and the notion of risk dominance will be used to describe the general diplomatic strategy between North Korea and China and to account for North Korea’s constant provocations. A situation of the Game theory called the Nash Equilibrium will be applied to suggest policy lines specifically after the stronger provocations of the North Korean state. At conclusive remarks, some limitations toward Game theory on its application on relations between China and North Korea will be suggested.

Stosunki polityczne między Koreą Północną a Chinami nie poprawiają się od 2006 r., kiedy północnokoreańskie władze rozpoczęły regularne próby jądrowe. Aby wyjaśnić naturę stosunków między tymi dwoma państwami, proponuję zastosować ramy teorii gier. Te pojęcia, w tym dominacja i ryzyko, będą używane do opisania ogólnej strategii dyplomatycznej obu państw we wzajemnych stosunkach. Będziemy również uwzględniać skale prowokacji Korei Północnej. Równowaga Nasha, czyli profil strategii teorii gier, zakłada optymalną strategię każdego gracza i będzie opisana w poniższym artykule, biorąc pod uwagę stosunki między oboma państwami. Zakończenie artykułu będzie dotyczyć ograniczenia teorii gier dotyczącej jej stosowania w relacjach między Chinami a Koreą Północną.

The paper assumes that North Korea is ruled by an alliance of people affiliated with Kim Il-sung family and two political organisations – the Organisation and Guidance Department and the Personal Secretariat, both of which are sub-branches of the Party Central Committee.
