Task and intention is the priority characteristic of all human actions. Thus making students aware of the tasks in their efforts is crucial due to psychological regularities which base human behaviour and also other conditions accompanying school achievements. In the teaching - learning process, apart from the sort of given information and its evaluation, the evaluation of students’ effectiveness to reach their successive goals is also important. The awareness of task to be achieved is particularly necessary for the learner because tasks directed into the future motivate to global and long-lasting activities and help to discover students’ own capabilities. Appropriate perception of the teaching task should be shaped in military education by revealing that the degree of achieving depends on the learner, and it is strictly co-related with the accomplishment of student’s own development potentials.

It is difficult to speak of effective education without motivation. However there is no simple answer to the question how to motivate as human behaviour cannot be completely explained in notions of „stimulus and response”. A higher military school student is an object of constant reactions of numerous motivation stimuli, both positive and negative ones. Intended motivation is an appropriately organised process causing the learning person’s tendency to achieve a certain aim, these are direct and indirect actions undertaken to evoke human being’s or group’s desired behaviour in a given task situation. In an appro¬priately organised teaching - learning process, motivation is present in its every component as this process natural characteristic. Thus motivation is an inseparable and necessary component of teacher’s leadership role. In order to undertake such actions, s/he has to know the basic rules concerning motivation and its forms. This article attempts to approximate these problems.
