Tourism to industrial and technical facilities blossoms also in Poland. In case of Greater Poland it is not the leading trend as the region does not possess top rank facilities, such as the Wieliczka Salt Mine. However, the region has a different trump that distinguishes it from others – a comparatively large group of well-preserved historical windmills. These unique constructions deserve to be taken care of by restoration specialists and to be saved from oblivion by exposing and popularizing the route built along them. The intensive efforts in this matter should be based on the activity of the Greater Poland Windmill Association and should draw tourists’ attention to Greater Poland (Wielkopolska Region) as a region formerly called “the land of windmills”.
