The author stressed the growing importance of Asia in international relations after World War II. It follows that increasing the role of this part of the world and the need for examination. Szczecin has a great potential in this area because after World War II came here as displaced persons from the former Polish lands frontiersmen. Work here enthusiasts organizations and associations of these lands. We are talking about people deported during World War II the Soviet Union. Their efforts are published memoirs and organized the project anniversary. It’s a natural base for scientifi c research, but have not developed as dynamically as in other Polish research institutions. To fi ll this gap the author presented to the authorities of the University of Szczecin in the spring of 2010, the project of creating a Department of Eastern Studies in the structure of the University of Szczecin. In the second part of the article accurately describes the tasks and structure. Highlighted the potential use of the local scientifi c and the advantages they would be learning in this direction. The study program in question contain a diverse, combining theory with practice. An important element of the proposal is its embedding in the organizational structures of the University of Szczecin.
