Analysis of the tourist attractiveness of selected Greek islands : comparison of the Ionian Islands, the Dodecanese and Crete of the basis of the tourist attractiveness index

The tourism sector is responsible for a large part of Greece’s GDP because the tourist assets of this country generate a lot of tourist traffic. The aim of the article is to compare the tourist attractiveness of the Ionian Islands, Dodecanese and Crete. This allowed for the creation of an attractiveness index. The following aspects were analyzed in detail: the number of tourist attractions, the number of hotels, the quality of these hotels, the number of airports and the number of seaports. Each of the elements was rated on a five-point scale. The region of the Ionian Islands turned out to be the most attractive for tourists. It has the most seaports and airports, so it is the most available in terms of communication. The number of attractions in the Ionian Islands is the largest among the studied areas. The number and quality of hotels is comparable to other analyzed places.

Tourists participating in the so-called sports tourism mostly benefit from general tourist infrastructure – accommodation, food services, transport, tourist information, sports and leisure facilities available to all tourists – regardless of the motivation underlying their stay. Thanks to global sports events a new form of sports-related tourism has been established, which has its maximum representation in major events such as the Olympic Games and the World or European Championships. Esports is undoubtedly one of the most rapidly developing industries in today’s world, both in terms of business and as sports. This article sets out to present forms and current trends in sports tourism. Subsequently, it focuses on esports and provides basic information about this form of leisure, indicates similarities between cybersport and traditional sport, and offers examples of electronic sports events, including the top event in the city of Katowice, which appears to be the Polish capital of esports. In addition, the article offers an insight into how the cybersports industry reacted to SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic. Furthermore, the authors analyse legal aspects of electronic sports in Poland and other countries and, finally, present and discuss the results of survey research pertaining to the impact of esports on tourism.

Geodiversity of New Zealand’s North Island is closly associated with its geological evolution that left numerous attractive geosites and influenced the biodiversity of this area. Its location in the collision zone of the Australian and Pacific lithospheric plates resulted in many exogenous processes, e.g. volcanism, earth quake or geysers. The meridional location of New Zealand has an impact on climate and weather conditions. Many endemic species of flora and fauna have survived here. The landscape diversity of New Zealand’s islands is a great scenery for many films, e.g.The piano, The Last Samurai, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit. Volcanoes in the north and mountain glaciers in the south make visitors feel as if they have moved to a wonderful, unknown fairy-tale world.

The paper presents the result of the research on the impact of the accelerated aging process on selected operational properties of polylactide films containing natural antioxidants in the form of coffee, cocoa or cinnamon extracts. The research was focused on mechanical properties important for the packaging industry from the point of view of the reliability of the obtained products, i.e. tensile strength, relative deformation at maximum stress, relative deformation at break, Young’s modulus, impact strength and storage module at various temperatures. The extracts have a positive effect on the determined mechanical properties. The obtained results were very often better not only than the values obtained for pure polymer, but also better than the values obtained for the film containing the synthetic anti-aging compound. It can therefore be concluded that the proposed plant extracts will have a positive effect on the stability of the mechanical properties of the manufactured products, which will allow long-term, reliable and safe operation of packaging. Proposed extracts can therefore be an alternative to the previously used synthetic anti-aging additives.
