Well-organized management of a supply chain involves the control of inventory levels and fast response to the changing customer demands. Enterprises cannot cope with this problem which contributes to the growing stock levels and therefore increases costs. The main goal of the article is to present a simulation approach to the problem of inventory management in a supply chain. The work shows the use of computer simulation techniques in order to emulate a supply chain system and its stochastic behaviour. The procedure for the usage of simulation modelling was described in a case study containing an analysis of an online store. The simulation results are presented using statistical parameters, which means that managers can get not only information concerning the expected value of the parameter looking decision-making, but also statistics to the characteristics of the risk associated with the decision associated with possible uncertainty.

This short essays presents some thoughts on the status of archives in Polish theatre studies. Historical perspective is taken into consideration, when discussing various approaches to the dichotomy of memory and oblivion. Particular attention is given to performative aspects of theatre archives. In this context, some conclusions are drawn from assumptions expressed by Professor Jan Ciechowicz and concerning objectives of theatrical research.

Rozwój infrastrukturalny jest zasadniczy dla rozwoju państwa, a zwłaszcza ma istotny wpływ na transport. Podobnie infrastruktura transportowa jest kluczowym składnikiem rozwoju gospodarczego na wszystkich płaszczyznach. Sprzyja ona dobrobytowi osobistemu i wzrostowi gospodarczemu. Odgrywa również kluczową rolę w rozwoju usług transportowych, będąc czynnikiem determinującym wyniki z sektora transportowego. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie wpływu stanu infrastruktury drogowej i sytuacji gospodarczej na funkcjonowanie wybranych przedsiębiorstw transportowych. W badaniach wzięło udział łącznie ponad 100 przedsiębiorców prowadzących działalność w sektorze usług transportowych, którzy byli obecni na rynku przez okres od roku do ponad 21 lat. Przeprowadzono sondaż diagnostyczny, a jego wyniki zostały opracowane z zastosowaniem metod statystycznych, m.in. wybranych testów nieparametrycznych (U Manna– Whitneya, H Kruskala–Wallisa), oraz badania korelacji. Pozwoliło to na weryfikację opinii przedstawicieli firm co do jakości infrastruktury drogowej i jej wpływu na rozwój branży na przestrzeni lat.

The development infrastructure is essential to the country's development, and in particular has a significant impact on transportation. Likewise, transportation infrastructure is a key component of economic development at all levels. It promotes personal well-being and economic growth. It also plays a key role in the development of transportation services being a determinant of performance from the transportation sector. The purpose of the article is to present the impact of road infrastructure development and the economic situation on the performance of selected transportation companies. A total of more than 100 entrepreneurs operating in the transport services sector, who had been in the market for a period from one year to more than 21 years, participated in the study. A diagnostic survey was conducted and the results were developed through the use of statistical methods, including selected non-parametric tests (Mann–Whitney U, Kruskal– –Wallis H) and a correlation study. This allowed verification of the opinions of company representatives as to the quality of road infrastructure and its impact on the development of the industry over the years.

Held between 28th September and 1st October 2017, the International Festival of Wandering Theatres celebrated the 40th anniversary of the European Centre for Theatre Practices “Gardzienice”. Situated in the remote countryside some 30 kilometres from the city of Lublin, the eponymous village has developed into a European centre of theatre. The festival gathered musicians, theatre practitioners, theoreticians and enthusiasts of many nationalities and all generations and revolved around the theme of the wedding. The première of “Gardzienice’s” latest performance The Wedding – Wyspiański – Malczewski – Konieczny, along with the concert Wyspiański by Konieczny (The Wedding and other dramas) were scheduled as the central events of the festival. yet, some of the less formal gatherings turned into equally prominent events, as they explored performative potential of the ensemble led by Włodzimierz Staniewski. On one such occasion, the founder of “Gardzienice” orchestrated what developed into unforgettable improvisation of choral singing, unorthodox scales, shamanic dance, playing violins, drums and other instruments.

Problems with commodities and the delivery of products have accompanied trade since its beginnings. It is not possible to stock up, as there will always be limitations – of storage space, resources or financial resources. The e-commerce sector in the age of Industry 4.0 era faces its own specific problems: on the one hand, customers want customised products fast, on the other hand, shops have to lower storage costs and efficiently manage the supply chain. The paper proposes a framework of simulation modelling with a regression module for shops operating in the e-commerce sector; it is a tool for decision-makers that simulates the ordering and delivering process with a varying number of products, suppliers and a varying demand. The aim is to define a novel approach where computer simulation and regression models are integrated and combined in order to provide decision-makers with information about the average delivery time to customers ordering online products and possible delays. The results of analyses show 90% reliability of the regression model in terms of changes in the average delivery time depending on number of products sold by the shop, demand fluctuation, the number of distributors and the average delivery time of products from the distributor.

Problemy z zapasami i dostawą produktów towarzyszyły handlowi od początku jego istnienia. Nie jest możliwe utrzymanie cały czas wysokiego stanu zapasów, ponieważ zawsze będą istniały ograniczenia – powierzchni magazynowej, zasobów materialnych lub zasobów finansowych. Sektor e-commerce w dobie Przemysłu 4.0 boryka się z własnymi specyficznymi problemami: z jednej strony klienci chcą szybko dostać dostosowane do swoich potrzeb produkty, z drugiej zaś – sklepy muszą obniżyć koszty magazynowania i efektywnie zarządzać łańcuchem dostaw. W artykule proponuje się połączenie modelowania symulacyjnego z modułem regresji dla sklepów działających w sektorze handlu elektronicznego; jest to narzędzie dla decydentów, które symuluje proces zamawiania i dostarczania dla różnej liczby produktów, dostawców i zróżnicowanego popytu. Celem artykułu jest zdefiniowanie nowego podejścia, w którym symulacja komputerowa i modele regresji są zintegrowane i połączone w celu dostarczenia decydentom informacji o średnim czasie dostawy i ewentualnych opóźnieniach do klientów zamawiających produkty online. Wyniki analiz modelu regresji pokazują iż 90% zmian średniego czasu dostawy zależy od liczby produktów sprzedawanych przez sklep, wahań popytu, liczby dystrybutorów oraz średniego czasu dostawy produktów od dystrybutora.

In British theatre of the last three decades, we observe a significant shift from the more verbal, playwright-focused model of theatre whose meanings are determined primarily by the literary concept of drama to the one which exercises more profoundly artistic autonomy of theatre. Complicite is one of the leading theatre companies that are responsible for this shift. In the performances of Complicite, the theme of violence has been explored frequently. The whole variety of theatre devices were employed in depicting images of violence. The article discusses plays such as Mnemonic, The Street of Crocodiles, Measure for Measure and The Master and Margarita, A Disappearing Number, Shun-kin and The Encounter and mentions others.

Similarly to the earlier work of “Gardzienice”, The Wedding – Wyspiański – Malczewski – Konieczny constitutes a condensed and artistically autonomous universe. On the one hand the production makes extensive use of creative methods that are typical of Włodzimierz Staniewski and on the other employs specific stage language that has been developed by the ensemble. Complex artistic organization of the on-stage reality may be observed not only in the case of a particular performance but also in the broader sequence of events that are named “a theatre marathon”. For this reason, the article focuses not only on a particular staging of Wesele…, but concentrates also on the performative potential of the “marathon” held between 19th and 20th January 2018. Wesele… by Gardzienice is additionally placed in a broader interpretative context.

This study aims to demonstrate the application of simulation techniques to the valuation of real options. The nature of the paper is methodological and empirical. The purpose of the valuation of the option to close a lignite mine in Poland is to demonstrate the methodology and advantages of employing Monte Carlo simulation in the valuation of real options. Close to actual numerical data reveals a complex optimization problem in the context of strategy selection by decisionmakers. Numerous factors (extraction costs, reclamation costs, the write-off for the reclamation fund, etc.), their interpenetration and multilevel influence on the decision to close the mine early enables simulation methods to demonstrate their valuation capabilities. The valuation techniques used in the paper, particularly the simulation comparative valuation method, are described in detail and are rooted in the literature and theory of finance.

The paper deals with the subject related to the assessment of the influence of the axis angle of the metal components of the hip joint on the emission of cobalt ions. The tribological tests were carried out with the use of a simulator for the examination of hip joint endoprostheses, the structure of which enables the fixation of endoprosthesis components in accordance with the anatomical structure of the human hip joint. During the tests, the simulator performs flexion and extension movements as well as loads occurring in the human hip joint while walking. Loss-wear tests were carried out for nine variants of the “head–cup” system settings. These settings were determined on the basis of CT images obtained from patients after arthroplasty. After the tribological tests were completed, samples of the lubricating fluid with the wear products suspended in it were collected in order to determine the concentration of cobalt ions, which was carried out using the atomic absorption spectrometry method. As a result, the influence of the head antetorsion angle (α) and the acetabular anteversion angle (β) on the concentration of cobalt ions was analysed.

W pracy poruszono problematykę związaną z oceną wpływu kątów elementów endoprotezy stawu biodrowego na emisję jonów kobaltu. Badania tribologiczne przeprowadzono przy użyciu symulatora do badania endoprotez stawu biodrowego, którego konstrukcja umożliwia mocowanie elementów endoprotezy zgodnie z budową anatomiczną stawu biodrowego człowieka. Podczas testów symulator wykonuje ruchy zgięcia i wyprostu oraz obciążenia występujące w stawie biodrowym człowieka podczas chodzenia. Testy zużycia przeprowadzono dla dziewięciu wariantów ustawień układu „głowa–panewka”. Ustawienia te zostały określone na podstawie obrazów CT uzyskanych od pacjentów po endoprotezoplastyce. Po zakończeniu badań tribologicznych pobrano próbki cieczy smarującej z pozostałymi w niej produktami zużycia w celu oznaczenia stężenia jonów kobaltu, co przeprowadzono metodą atomowej spektrometrii absorpcyjnej. W rezultacie przeanalizowano wpływ kąta antetorsji głowy (α) i kąta antewersji panewki (β) na stężenie jonów kobaltu.

Purpose: The aim of the article is to present the results of research conducted using the statistical method on the results of project management certification exams (IPMA-Student). The purpose of the research was to determine which elements of post-graduate students' competences are best developed. Design/methodology/approach: In the study, the statistical method and the individual case method were used. The data came from the IPMA-Student portal, from the results of the exam in electronic version. MS Excel 2013 software was used to prepare the results of the analysis. Basic statistical analyses were made. In addition, the analysed groups were compared due to the IPMA-Student's exam result. One-factor analysis of variance was used for this purpose. Findings: In the course of the work, the level of management competence in the various areas of technical, behavioural and contextual competence was identified. Practical implications: The results of the research and conclusions can be used as material to indicate which elements of project management competence require support and can be useful in the formulation of training programmes both at universities and in training companies. Originality/value: The research is based on the actual results of business certification exams carried out by an international independent professional association. Therefore, the result of the research is not based on a declarative description of students' competences, but on the real results of the exam.

Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie systemu zarządzania jakością opartego na idei Kaizen wprowadzonego w przedsiębiorstwie Sonel S.A. oraz przedstawienie wymiernych efektów jego wdrożenia w tym przedsiębiorstwie. Zaprezentowano model zarządzania jakością wprowadzony w Sonel, zwany SPS – System Produkcyjny Sonel. Przedstawiono dane ilościowe, które potwierdzają skuteczność tego systemu w realizacji celów organizacji oraz wskazują, że system ten został zaakceptowany przez pracowników i stał się standardem w Sonel.

The aim of the article is to present the quality management system based on the idea of Kaizen which is introduced in Sonel S.A. and to present measurable effects of the implementation of this system in this company. The management model called SPS – Sonel Production System and the impact of the implemented quality management system on the company’s results were presented. Quantitative data were shown, which confirmed the effectiveness of this system in achieving the objectives of the organization and indicated that the system has been accepted by the employees and has become the standard in Sonel.

Modern IT and teaching solutions are increasingly used in the distance learning process. The introduction of game ele-ments in the e-learning allows to increase the interest and motivation of the user when performing tasks. The "Quizer" e-learning platform has been designed to create interactive multimedia courses with elements of gameplay, including the multiplayer format. The paper discusses the technologies and tools used to build the platform. An example of a game designed in a multiplayer format is presented.

Wprowadzenie do e-learningu elementów rozgrywki pozwala na zwiększenie zainteresowania i motywacji użytkownika podczas wykonywania stawianych mu zadań. Platforma e-learningowa „Quizer” powstała z myślą tworzenia interaktywnych kursów multimedialnych z elementami rozgrywki, w tym w formacie multiplayer. W pracy omówiono zastosowane do budowy platformy technologie i narzędzia. Przedstawiono przykład gry wykonanej w formacie multiplayer.

The article presents the construction of a hip joint movement simulator intended for friction and wear studies of hip joint endoprostheses. The endoprosthesis head is mounted on a special base in the lower position with a neck-shaft angle of 135°, while the acetabular cup of the endoprosthesis is mounted in the upper part in the mounting head with an inclination angle of 45°. The production of three heads (responsible for the anteversion angle of the acetabulum) and three special bases (responsible for the antitorsion angle of the head) with different fixing angles of the components of the hip joint endoprosthesis, made it possible to carry out tribological tests with nine variants of alignment settings. The hip joint endoprosthesis tester is designed to simulate the following movements: flexion and extension as well as loads occurring in the human hip joint while walking. The subject of friction and wear studies were hip joint endoprostheses with a head diameter of 44 mm, made of high-carbon Co28Cr6Mo alloy. For each of the nine variants of endoprosthesis component alignment settings, average values of the coefficient of friction were calculated based on the recorded values of the friction. torque.

W artykule przedstawiono konstrukcję symulatora ruchu stawu biodrowego, przeznaczonego do badań tarciowo-zużyciowych endoprotez stawu biodrowego. Głowa endoprotezy mocowana jest na cokole w dolnym położeniu z kątem szyjkowo-trzonowym 135°, natomiast panewka endoprotezy zamontowana jest w górnej części w głowicy mocującej z zachowaniem kąta inklinacji 45°. Wykonanie trzech głowic (odpowiedzialnych za kąt antywersji panewki) oraz trzech cokołów (odpowiedzialnych za kąt antetorsji głowy) różniących się kątami osadzenia komponentów endoprotezy stawu biodrowego umożliwiło przeprowadzenie testów tribologicznych z dziewięcioma wariantami ustawień. Tester endoprotezy stawu biodrowego przeznaczony jest do symulacji ruchów: zgięcia i wyprostu oraz obciążeń występujących w stawie biodrowym człowieka podczas chodu. Przedmiotem badań tarciowo-zużyciowych były endoprotezy stawu biodrowego o średnicy głowy 44 mm, wykonane z wysokowęglowego stopu Co28Cr6Mo. Dla każdego z dziewięciu wariantów ustawień komponentów endoprotezy obliczone zostały średnie wartości współczynnika tarcia w oparciu o rejestrowane wartości momentu tarcia.
