The article is based on the research conducted at Silesian schools concerning the position and functioning of foreign students as well as the ones coming back from emigration in the Polish educational system. The article author analyses the adaptation mechanisms of the students and parents with migrant experiences as well as the needs of the receiving communities. The analysis is based on the material gathered through the conducted survey.

The paper addresses the aspect of lingua¬ culture and its role in teaching Polish among students with migration experiences at a Polish school. Polish as the language of school education serves as a tool used in the process of learning about the world, but it is also a guarantee of efficient social integration. Moving smoothly within the lingua¬ cultural sphere (deciphering cultural codes hidden in the language) in the case of users of the language who come from a different linguistic and cultural background enables free communication as well as a sense of connection with the host environment. The author supports this prop-osition with theoretical interpretations (Edward Sapir’s and Claire Kramsch’s views) as well as with practical experience of a foreign language teacher, using the example of selected literary texts (the work of Grzegorz Kasdepke).

The article explores the question of adaptation with other cultures and communities as a value, which the according to the author constitutes an essential component of the language teaching process. The interdisciplinary nature of the adaption creates a series of possibilities for teaching foreign languages utilizing from an active cultural, societal, and artistic background. The teaching process is not only interested in transferring content from one medium to another, instead, it looks for effective strategies in typically multicultural spaces.

Comics as one of the texts of culture becomes a mediating element between cultures. The article attempts to answer the question whether the history of Polish literature presented in a form of a comics can influence the way in which Polish literature is regarded and enlarge its readers’ number that is very limited outside of Poland. The author of the article also at-tempts to study the presence of Polish literary works (mostly novels) in multiple¬ panel com-ics, both in Poland and abroad.
