The paper presents results of preliminary research focused on applicability of genetic algorithm to the problem of scheduling and optimisation of power systems with pumped-storage hydroelectric plants. The results show that the algorithm can be successfully applied to the problem and provide data useful for design and configuration of power systems.

W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki wstępnych badań nad możliwością zastosowania algorytmu genetycznego do problemu planowania i optymalizacji pracy systemu elektroenergetycznego korzystającego z elektrowni szczytowo-pompowych. Wyniki te pokazują, że opisany algorytm może być z powodzeniem stosowany w tego typu problemach, dostarczając danych przydatnych przy projektowaniu i konfiguracji systemów elektroenergetycznych.

This paper describes a statistical method that can be used to compare two languages and obtain an objective measure of their similarity. It uses D-M Soundex algorithm to match similarly sounding words in two given texts. Texts in Slavonic languages are used to verify the method and to provide similarity indices for those languages.
