The Location Project involves research into sensor technologies including GPR, acoustics and quasi-static fields with the aim of developing and testing of a multi-sensor tool for the accurate location, and ideally identification, of buried utilities. Deployment both from the surface and from within a large underground conduit, such as a sewer pipeline, will be considered. The network will facilitate dissemination and stakeholder discussion of the research activities and research priorities through five workshops on sensors for buried utility location, mapping.
