Urban regeneration is known to be an experienced but complex phenomenon. Even though, over the years, urban regeneration, in Europe, has been widely used, but in Romania, the concept is still new, many formal industrial spaces are abandoned and there is a lack of interest in bringing these areas back to life. The aim of this paper is to study the concept of urban regeneration, figure out the practical aspects of it and observing the current situation of sites in the city of Oradea, Romania.
Before 1990, Romania went through a forced industrialized policy, but after this time, most of the industrial bussiness went bankrupt, and their sites and buildings were abandoned. Nowadays, most of the cities in Romania encounter the problem of abandoned industrial sites. This has become an interesting problem for the local authorities to overcomein the future. The aim of this paper is to study the process of deindustrialization of the country and suggest methods of regenerating the areas.
