The article concerns space debris which poses a growing threat not only for objects in space but for infrastructure on the Earth as well. This is a serious problem due to the growing number of satellites in orbit. Satellites after completing the mission and their fragments constitute a threat to other satellites. The main reasons of debris growth is defragmentation, deorbitation and collisions in orbit. There should also be mentioned activities connected with conducting antisatellite weapon tests resulting in a possible significant growth of threat to space infrastructure. More and more entities are interested in developing capabilities which deliver information that could indirectly protect their assets in space and reduce losses generated by space debris counting to millions of euros. Creating a complementary system is expensive, therefore new solutions are being sought which on the principle of cooperation could deliver expected services, enabling the application of experience and equipment in hands of some EU countries. Taking the above into consideration, efforts should be exerted to build such services and participate in them from the position of a country and not only a data recipient.
