Abstrakty
Evaluating reliability on different hierarchical levels of electric power systems (generation, transmission and distribution) utilizes various indices of reliability, in spite of being principally similar in a probabilistic sense. These indices are expected values of probabilistic distributions and not determined parameters. This paper describes the features of the Monte Carlo simulation method, from the significant stand point of evaluation of reliability of electric power systems, which furthermore assures the appropriate precision and effectiveness in calculating reliability indices. A formulation of criteria of evaluating the effectiveness of the Monte Carlo simulation method of evaluating electric power system reliability is also conducted.
