Abstrakty
According to findings, the material from sites connected with Nowa Cerekwia group (later in text: NCG), as well as the specificity of this cultural phenomenon (that is the presence of fortified settlements, lack of separate cemeteries), allowed including NCG into Madarovce-Veterov-Böheimkirchen cultural circle. Such chronological frames of NCG development, limited to the turn of BA2/B1 and beginnings of BB1 phase, were seemingly confirmed by radiocarbon datings (BP) obtained from one of the key NCG settlements discovered in Jedrychowice, Glubczyce district. This paper presents a re-attempt of calibration with OxCal v3.10 of radio-carbon datings from Jedrychowice. Calibrated dates fall to the period between the year 2050 and 1550 BC (2ó confidence). Datings achieved for Jedrychowice correspond to dates from samples coming from fortified settlement in Nowa Cerekwia. The confrontation of calibrated dates acquired for Jedrychowice settlement with dating of assemblages included into Madarovce-Veterov-Böheimkirchen circle, together with archeological reasons, both raise well-founded doubt on including NCG into that cultural circle. Examples quoted in this paper point explicitly to an earlier chronological position of NCG, that is for the BA2 (or BA1b) phase instead of BA2/B1 and the beginning of BB1 phase, as it was thought so far. Therefore, presented unit should be connected rather with the Unetice culture or alternatively with an early phase of Madarovce-Veterov-Böheimkirchen complex.
