The article examines the evolution of the concept of sustainable development and the implementation of its principles at different levels of government in Ukraine. It is proved that decentralization is an instrument of realization of the state policy to ensure sustainable development of territorial communities. The territorial community is seen as a complex dynamic weakly structured self-regulating system. The task of management of sustainable development of the territorial community, based on the tasks and principles of decentralization, is proposed.(original abstract)
