The paper discusses the phenomena of clusters and networks in wood processing, furniture manufacture and paper production and processing companies and highlights the competitive abilities derived from such associations. These organisational forms and the related business methods are analysed in the context of increasing international integration of goods, services, capital and labour markets. The diverse prospects of cluster development are a reflection of issues contained in this type of business, as well as its possible limitations. The paper offers basic guidelines for the functioning of the minimum of joint integrated chain management. Our approach is radically opposed to the fragmentariness of interest and businesses currently existing in this sector's trading and manufacturing companies. An idea concerning a joint cooperative cluster model is put forward. Some possible methods of selecting development concepts in the wood industry, furniture manufacture and paper production and processing are discussed.(original abstract)
