The profitability ratio of the invested capital which, on the one hand, describes the effectiveness of typical activities of a forest district in the form of a result from the operational activity and, on the other, reflects the true value of the economic resources involved in profit generation can provide a solid and reliable indicator important for both the evaluation as well as the comparison of individual forest districts. The profitability ratio of the invested capital was employed to study the effectiveness of the activities of forest districts in the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Poznań in years 1998-2001.
